In other news!
Due to technical difficulties, we have created a new “In-game” garage for the North American side of the group. The new Club Garage tag is 2O4A to go along with the existing 2O4E (Euro) garage. We have recently sent out new invites to the existing North American members to move over to the new North American Garage. We realized this was not ideal, we needed to take this step to ensure the newly elected leadership group could effective manage the NA garage.
The second season of the BTCC had its final full shakedown last Sunday at the famed Silverstone International circuit where the series kicks off the official schedule next week. Teams were in the final aspect of testing as they were either fine tuning there selected car or were still trying to figure out which car to run. This was vital as the car you start with will be the car you run for the entire season. As it stands right now, we have 34 drivers committed and will be running two lobbies each week. Based on the action on the track, this will be an epic series once again.
In case you have been under a rock these past few months, Forza 5 is hitting the shelves in a few weeks and the guys are looking forward to its arrival. Although most of us are eager to hear more specific details about the game, (tracks, racing options, wheel support, ect,) we anticipate having a decent number of members being day one owners. That said, a number of us will be making the transition to Forza 5 over the next year for various reasons. That said, Forza 4 events will continue alongside new Forza 5 events.
This week (thanks to jdan) we also found out just how old the guys here at 2old4forza really are and yes, we have some really old racers. Here is how it shakes out and yes we really are flippin old (at least some of are):
- 26.5% are seniors (over the age of 50)
- 26.5% are men (40-49 years old)
- 38.2% are young men (30-39 years old)
- 8.8% are boys (25-29 years old)
Our weekly Track Nights continues to have strong turnouts on (Wednesday Night - hosted by gizziegod & Friday Night – hosted by myself) has we run every class (F - R1) at a set track each week. This past week the Euro guys on Wednesday raced at Nordschleife while the North American guys on Friday headed Bernese Alps Festival. Starting next week, the North American lobby will feature the manufacture challenge. For those that accept the challenge will be running all the races in Porsche’s with the overall winner receiving 1,000,000 credits!
This week the WeeklySaturdaySuperFunEvent (hosted by Drivebye this week) re-ran the roadsters at several tracks for what looked like fun times by all who attended. Next week, A TRICOOTERTOPS will be hosting the weekly event with a Porsche vs Ferrari team challenge on some of the world’s most iconic and grueling tracks.
Our newly elected North American Club Leader, Gentlemen Racer, will be starting up a new six week Eighties Sports Cars Series on Sunday nights featuring the Lancia 037 Stradale, Ferrari GTO, Porsche 911 T, Lotus Esprit, BMW M1 and The DeLorean. The guys have completed some extensive testing in the cars and look to have the series kick off this Sunday at Sebring. Based on the early testing, this looks to be an exciting series.
The Thursday Night Small-bore Race Series is a new 4 week series being hosted by PrebuiltAbyss. The cars eligible for this series include the Ford Escort RS1800, Datsun 510, MGB GT, Alfa Sprint GTA and the BMW 2002 built to B500 specifications. With tight twisty tracks on the schedule, it looks to be a blast to race. Unfortunately, the start of the series has been delayed a few weeks until the end of October. Based on the shakedown event this past week, the series looks to have a strong field we the green flag is waved.
In addition to the above, we frequently have a number of random lobby races where the guys just run random tracks and cars. These are a great way to try out new cars and improve your racing skills, not to mention have a great time.
It’s not all about racing though here at 204F, we have our weekly Thursday Night Throwdown (or now known as Hitting Balls with Cars) as we head to the soccer field for some great fun and laughs. A few of us are not hitting the links in Tiger Woods 14 where we get to drive something other than a racecar! Finally with the recent release of GTA-5, some of us have formed our crew and looking to have some fun. A few of us even broke out the Horizon disk this past week and had a good time. Who know, Horizon might be making a come-back as the interest is starting to pick up again. So even though FM4 is still the primary focus here at 2O4F, we still have fun doing other stuff as well.
As always, if you’re interested in good clean racing, helping each other and having a good time in an older (must be 25 or older) respectable community, feel free to head over to www.2old2Play.com and sign up and let us know you’re interested in joining 2old4forza in the “New in town” forum. We are always looking for new members to share some good banter and racing etiquette with. Hope to see you on the track.
@Grim: Thanks for the report! And thank you for the "jdan"-part" too.
Awesome work as usual Grim!
