Well that was disappointing. They didn't show anything new, the guy they had us follow for gameplay was just horrible at the game, and every twitter question they took was stuff they already explained before. "How many discs will Halo have? What's spartan ops?" So if you didn't get to watch it, you really didn't miss anything good.
Actually I enjoyed the stream. Yeah, they noobed it up with the questions and a lot of talking, but that's no surprise. We got to see some gameplay on maps we'd previously only had "tours".
David Ellis did confirm there will NOT be a viewable skill-based ranking system (or playlist) - it's all "behind the scenes" like Reach. Something about wanting people to focus on enjoying the game instead of worrying about ranks...like THAT is going to happen...lol While this is not surprising, I am somewhat disappointed seeing how there are games out there that have skill-based ranks and do them well - StarCraft II as a prime example.
They did demo a game of Extraction. Basically, there are areas from which to "extract" data. You place a sensor and then protect the sensor while it uploads. Of course the sensor can be reprogrammed if the other team takes the area. First team to collect a certain amount wins. There were two data extraction points at a time for people to capture and defend. This mode should be fun for BTB.
They also demoed King of the Hill that I had not seen yet in Halo 4. There is a fair amount of info on the HUD about hill placements, hill timers and location of next hill. Also, if I saw things correctly, there were actually two hills to cap at a time, but I may be wrong.
Overall, I'd say the game looks great. A lot of variation to the maps and much faster paced than Reach.
I thought the stream was ok. The last map they played on was completely new to me, and looked beautiful, and very fun. Seems like the pressure of being watchd is alway a lot ot the guys with the controllers, whenever there's a big game pre-release stream. Nearly everything I watched for Borderlands 2 featured some noob that couldn't aim.
Ellis hinted that there are "easter egg" uses for the hologram, that weren't there for Reach. Any speculation on that? My first idea was that you'd be able to attach a plasma grenade to it and send it into a group of enemies.

In honor on not wanting Deep to pass out from leaked info...
You could see the Hologram Teabagging someone in one of the Slayer games
I saw that. But we were following the guy who used it and he wasn't doing that. Kinda looked like it just glictched or something into the wall.
THey've been tryign to do it on the livestream today. If you shoot it right at the guy after a kill it'll do it. Seems like it only works half the time though.
Thanks for the post! Looks like I need to hit the gym early before I get to watch that. I love my Wednesdays off lol.
CAUTION:
Spoilers have been posted in the Chat line. You may want to turn it off while watching the stream.

Blame LB.
they did play Extraction and I believe there has not been any "approved" videos of that out there.

No surprise there. 343 had been avoiding answering the visible ranks question since they started taking questions.
I'm happy about this. The damn number means nothing except that you were able to boost with some friends.
