FYI - do not dismantle all of your old Year 1 stuff yet. After I reached Rank 2 with my Gunsmith, he gave me a quest to dismantle 10 rare or legendary fusion rifles. ugh
I had a couple of Year 1 legendary Fusions in my vault I knew I would not use again, so I thought I'd give it a try. Yep, two dismantled = completed quest. I got the Warlock class weapon fusion rifle. YAY, no having to wait for engrams to drop or for him to sell the needed items.
I believe the Hunter gets a Sniper at rank 2 and the Titan gets a shotty at rank 2.
Did someone said Year 1 weapons are useless?
In my Warlock char, I used Fatebringer, Icebreaker, and a Year 2 rocket (200) in the Regicide fight and took down Oryx with them.
In addition: I used Ghally on Orxy in my Titan char. :D
