Beacons - Mini-missions
We only came across them last night. Were they available earlier?
It proved to be a more enjoyable way to deal with busy work. We over did it a bit though, for a trio of gents aged 50-60. Damn tired out afterwards.
Beacons kind of indicated the power Bungie wields with features like this. Today we turn on special feature #9, tomorrow #S117.
The beacons only show up in free roam. They don't show up if you're playing a mission.
I've spend a lot of time in the free roam doing those. Kind find public events doing those as well.
I didn't discover this "Explore" area until about a hour before the Beta ended. I mean I saw the icon on the map, but didn't know it was basically the place to go for free roam and public events. I had fun with this and it should be interesting to see how much variation Bungie can add.
Spent several pleasant hours on the last day of the Beta exploring the whole area. Found interesting loot here and there, participated in my first public event, and sniped many distant enemies. Looking forward to the full release.
I started playing at 2:00pm Sunday. Played solo and with Bubba and Minataur. Completely forgot about stopping for coffee. Forgot I was supposed to make supper. I forgot what time it was until I was getting a headache. That's when I begged off saying my wife would be taking over the TV soon for her evening shows. It was 5:00pm. Completely lost myself in the game.
Holy shit!
I'm going to have to be careful come September.
It's too bad my mic wasn't working. I could hear you two just fine. It's really hard to stay together or coordinate when there's no comm. My daughter and I switched off playing from Friday evening through about noon on Sunday. I't a real bummer there's no coop splitscreen.
Sarah got the Hunter character. The knife throwing and stabbing melee are so much fun to watch.
i killed the devil walker in explore solo and it didn't drop a damn thing for me. No glimmer, armor, weaopon, orbs, etc,, So now to decide if i keep my pre-order or back off until Xmas and let someone buy it for me.
I was a little ticked at the lack of post Devil-walker loot, myself. But as Deep said, it was fun with friends: about 2 hours with Agent, mainly because we kept losing 3rd fireteam members plus an inconvenient simutaneous death, and about 15 minutes with Deep and a 3rd who stuck around. Learned a lot both times.

Loved playing the game with my friends.
They seemed a little too much like generic fetch quests. Its the beta, and I'm sure there's some more variation, but it was okay.
