Don't go in alone. Odds are too great of getting stuck with a Timmy on your team, get a party of as close to 8 or 16 as you can.
Have at least one loadout that includes a plasma pistol and plasma grenades for taking out vehicles.
Make sure your team grabs all of your vehicles. Better to have your team not get any kills with your mantis than have the other team steal it and get even just one.
Don't wander off alone. Team shooting is still just as important.

These tips are great.
Id also add that if you like vehicles then be sure to run the wheelman ability. It really makes a nice difference.
Steal the other teams vehicles when you can, especially the Banshee and Mantis. Even if your not a vehicle person, bring that thing back to your team and let someone else jump in (kinda obvious, I know)
Communicate with your team as much as possible, always try to keep track of where the other teams power weapons and vehicles are.
Try to go in with a plan and let your team know what your doing,(Such as rushing Tank or a certain area...) a lot of times it will give the timmies on your team some sort of direction instead of just running towards random shiny objects.
There are some REALLY good btb players in 2o2p, if you get a chance to play with them try to shadow them for a game and see how they play.

Biggest problem I've seen with H4 so far is no team shooting. I don't know if this is partly because people aren't familiar with the maps, or what. Seems like every time I'm near a few teammates on my radar and start shooting an enemy, when I back off to let another teammate take them out while I recharge, everyone has run off to do their own thing. This leave me open for a grenade death almost immediately. If your teammate starts shooting, take note and shoot what they are aiming at. Otherwise why are we playing in a team?

Omg THIIIIIISSSSSS!! I love my friends dearly, but some of you bastards disappear on me all the time! I run TOWARDS team mates to help, run up to them and say "bitch switch if you need to!", trade spots with them to let their shields come back...but I couldnt begin to count the times I've got one or two team mates with me, I start shooting someone (usually two someones), jump back a bit expecting help, and realize the people who were with me have just run off in another direction. At least tell a girl you're running off sheesh!
Also, a plasma pistol and three plasma nades will take out a mantis. :) So I have a BTB class that has the grenadier perk or whatever it is, that includes 3 plasmas on spawn.
Also, you'll never achieve effective team shooting without good call outs. I couldn't tell you how many times I've heard: "Help me out.............I'm over here!"
But I do think buckeye has a valid point. I do the same - I'm so used to "on my X", not realizing that the screen doesn't show that anymore. Which is dumb. Also, callouts are not known yet, so it's hard to say where you are.
Callouts... reminds me of the old 2o2p Halo 2 days... Good times with Phreaks and a bunch of others every night in BTB.
Yeah, just playing by myself matchmaking BTB nobody does callouts and it is definitely "every man for himself." The plasma pistol and grenade loadouts I thought of and created one the other day. I was just getting nailed by vehicles so I added those in and tried to stay out of the open areas, hugging the sides most of the time.
