Fanatec Support

Well just e-mail Fanatec about my CSR being stuck in xbox mode.  Now to wait and see.  Honestly though for some reason I'm not holding out high hopes.  First their Technical Support link on the website doesn't work correctly.  After selecting my product it takes me to a 404 page not found link.

I then decided to use their "Contact Us".  It has form with 3 required boxes, last name, first name and e-mail address.  So I fill out the form and put my message in the box, hit send and get an error "Missing required data"  Nope all three are filled.  So I decide to go ahead and put my mailing address and phone in.  Still get the error, I had to put in a title for myself, King of course, and a company name, My Kingdom.

If they can't even get the coding on their website working I don't have much faith in them resolving this issue easily.  I have enjoyed my CSR wheel and pedals but have always had this uneasy feeling like when is mine going to fail.  I really wish they had competition in the xbox area as that forces people to focus on producing a better product.  Now though since I am moving more towards racing on the PC that atleast opens up a whole world of possibilities with the likes of Thrustmaster and Logitech to name a few.

The CSR on the PC is a joy to use, and Fanatec should sort you out, their customer sevice is quirky but not as bad as people sometimes make out. If you have problems post on f-wheel.com, the mods there have a nack of getting problems sorted.

The quickest way to get a hold of them is to give them a call.  I bought a $5 calling card to do it.  Once I spoke to someone the ball started rolling very fast.  Check to see what their Tech Support hours are though...  I think it may only be a few hours a day.

Actually I already got a response.   I have to upload a video and send it to them.   Hopefully it all goes smooth.

I went through that 2 weeks ago when one of my flappy shifter paddles broke off. They were a joy to deal with, speedy reply and resolution.

The support email address that I have successfully used many times is e-support@fanatec.com.  When my first Elite wheel failed, I had a new wheel in hand two weeks from the date of my first email to support.  When the replacement Elite failed last month, I received a new wheel three weeks from the date of my first email to support, even though Fanatec has been dealing with the CSW launch and website issues.

So, all in all, I have been very pleased with Fanatec's customer service.  smiley

Okay so video uploaded and now I wait for their timezone.  So wait and see if they have any info for me in the morning.  Still thinking about getting another wheel just for use in here on the pc.  Would love to shoot for the t500 rs but will have to save up a bit for that.  Currently though g27's are on sale at Fry's and I know they are also a good wheel.  Oh decisions decisions.

You know how I feel about the T500RS, which is now my main wheel for PC and PS3.  I received my replacement Elite yesterday and will primarily use it for Forza 4 and Forza Horizon.  That being said, the G27 is a solid wheel, lots of guys on iRacing use it and love it.  The pedals are solid.  Its a mature, reliable product, hard to argue against it for the price.

**Update**

Sent Fanatec the video they requested and the next morning I got an e-mail walking me thru some steps.  After resetting the wheel all is well. I can now use it on the PC and the xbox just fine.  Overall I have to say I am very pleased with their support as they were quick in responding and helping with my issue.

I can vouch for the g27 very solid and reliable, as well as modable, only downside is it doesn't work on xbox ....I've noticed in the last few weeks a lot of fanatec problems popping up again seems they come in mass clumps, makes it hard to justify the price with the amount of problems I've heard, which is to bad I had high hopes for the product

To be fair all of the recent problems are MSL and Forza related, I have never had an issue on PC, in fact everything about it is better on PC it was like having a new wheel when I started using it in PC sims. I certainly don't count my recent issues with firmare, after all it was beta smiley

Yea it was a great relief to get it working and as for the CSR wheel itself I've always been impressed.  On the PC the thing really shines.
