First aid kit vs. medic bag?

I was just recently wondering why anyone would choose a first aid kit vs. a medic bag?  I haven't unlocked the full medic bag yet, so I'm not sure if you can equip and deploy both at the same time, but that's the only use I can see from this.  Anyone else have thoughts on this?
