Game looks badass to me. I don't mind Change, balance and gameplay will have to be spot on though. Looks like they are focusing on competitive small area maps this time around.
Definitely has some changes in store. I'm not a fan of thruster pack (it currently looks a little OP), clamber (it makes difficult jumps no longer a viable skill), and ADS. I really dislike ADS. One of the reasons I like Halo is due to the cleanliness of your screen when scoped. Ground pound looks situational and verdict is still out on shoulder check, slide, and smart scope. While the nerfing of sprint is appreciated, why still have it if you have thruster pack? Descoping is back and armor abilities are gone. I'll definitely take ADS over camo-hiding whores. Beta will be interesting. I hope all these changes work because I would love to have a new competitive Halo. But if not, there's always the MCC to keep me entertained...that is if they fix the current MM issues.
Did you watch the pro's play a game last night? Supposedly, they had a decent amount of time before they played each other to practice. Won't tell you much more but they were keen on thrusters.
So first thoughts (I might be a tad grumpy this morning):
I'm honestly not a big fan of the gameplay. It's still too Call of Duty to me. It's not just the ADS stuff or the sprint, and maybe it's just my eyes, but the low lighting levels, textures, and color scheme (this is a problem on H2A too) really makes it difficult to make out players. Yes they could fix that, but they haven't done it yet. The AR essentially looks exactly the same, the map is just a rehash map from H2. Ignoring the fact that I mostly hate the DMR, it now has a COD scope. In general, there's now way too much focus on twitch in this game and not enough on using your brain to your advantage. I always liked the fact that with Halo you could be surprised by someone and with a good shot and strafing techniques or jumping/hitbox shrinking/melee you could out-shoot them. Not to mention good map and spawn control. Also it helped that you could find that person more easily on the map in the first place. This game makes it literally impossible to get that advantage.
Shields/sprinting - you're still going to have guys running and hiding. Ugh.
I know Halo already has well over 100 stock maps, but I want something different. I want more interesting weapons. I want the same general walking and strafing mechanics. I just don't see it happening.
Unless they significantly change the dynamic of the game, which I think is highly unlikely, I think I'll be playing H2A for pretty much the rest of my Halo days (that being dependent on how quickly they resolve the horribad launch issues) and then selling the XB1 and calling it quits.

I'm not sure I like the scope either. However, as the player says - it's really the same thing, without the blacked out area so you can see around you too. Once you play for awhile you realize that.
Doesn't look any more twitch that other Halos. Not sure where you're getting that. Still take the same number of bullets to pop shields and headshot. Not sure how it's not using your brain.
"This game makes it literally impossible to get that advantage." - I'm not sure what you're talking about here. It has all the things you previously said it doesn't. I don't understand.
Sprinting - yeah, I hate it. But at least now there is a penalty and it's easier to kill running enemies. It's not going away - every other shooter has it, and it'd feel unnatural to the majority of buyers to not have it.
There is "walking and strafing" (seriously, I still don't know what you're talking about). I personally don't want a bunch of new weapons like you seem to. I like my BR, Pistol, Rockets, Sniper.
Seems like the new game mechanics and map design worked pretty well together. The changes to midship look pretty cool and I'm excited to see some of the other maps. It doesn't look like classic halo, but not in a bad way.
The game looks decent. More tricks to learn. I'm totally okay with the announcer telling when the weapons will drop. I can't decide about the map. It's kind of cluttered, but on the other hand there are a lot of ways to get around it so it's not closed in.

Watching n00b's play doesn't tell me much.

It looks like it has potential to me. One key will be the maps. The midship update looks cool (though maybe a bit busy in the backgrounds).
Well it told me more than I already knew about or saw of H5 - which was nothing.
Looks awesome. Can't wait.

Really excited for this. Really really.
I do think it looks fun and some of the changes make sense - like the shield recharge penalty after sprinting.
Reminds me of Halo with some Titanfall mixed in - and that's a good thing.
New video, haven't played it yet:
