This massive dump you talk about is directly related to tokens. Can't sell cars back to the dealership, can't gift cars, no auction house, all of it is in effort to sell tokens.
That's what saddens Parcells the most and has me concerned about FM6 and beyond.
If the game market (game racing market is ALL I care about) inevitably goes this direction so be it. Keep your stupid token system but for the love of God please start offering other options to scam more money out of us like offering subscriptions to play FM6. $5.00 a month seems reasonable if they put back all the good shit they took out of FM5 AND open everything up so I can own/upgrade every car and race every track (of which of course their would be more) with minimal to no effort (read no grind). Most of us here just want to race with each other and there's only so much money to be won in on-line races, especially with this crowd when the slighest slip up costs you a position or more fucken bastards!
curious - is earning cars over time through work important to you, or would you just like all cars unlocked and bought already at the start, as a playground? serious question - new to racing, but I thought part of the fun was the work to get cars.
For serious sim racing, such as iRacing, Project CARS, Assetto Corsa or rFactor, I prefer that the car be opened from the get go. In fact, that is how those games work. For more casual console racing, such as GT5 and Forza, I do not mind having to do some work to earn the credits to buy the cars. I do not miss getting a free car at the end of a series. My only complaint about the leveling up in Forza 5 is that you get the same amount of credits the higher you go. The credit rewards for leveling up should be scaled. In other words, I should get a higher reward for advancing from Level 19 to 20 than from Level 1 to 2.
It wouldn't even matter if those of us that play all the time could have a way to give those that play less often some of our credits. I don't care if there are tokens in the game, by all means survival of the fittest and if someone is dumb enough to pay more money for fake money take advantage of them, but don't take away gifting and selling things to try and entice those of us that aren't dumb enough to do it.
The post makes some very good points. I personally have only run 4 or 5 cars in Forza 5, even though I am now Level 19. I like that. Although I enjoy the car collection aspect from GT5, where I have collected over 1200 cars over the last three years, I also like the focus on a few cars mentality that I have going in my favorite sim, iRacing, where I only race using 5 or 6 cars. I do not find Forza 5 to be a grind at all. Indeed, GT5 was much more of a grind, even after the seasonal event payouts were greatly increased.
Parcells dont mind a little bit of a grind but that word is being used in the wrong context some times or just wrongly. When you're checking out the game for the first 5-10-20 hours whatever you're comfortable with its really not grinding you're just checking out the awesome new game you got. What Sarcasmo does isn't grinding because he's enjoying setting up his cars. When you start asking "What race can I win the most credits in?" there's a good chance you're getting into the grinding for credits stage and that is not fun.
I have looked but haven't seen any wired ones yet.
In the past, plugging the wireless one in acted sort of like a wired controller, but the weight was still more and the balance was off and it still didn't fell like it performed like a true wired controller.
I haven't tried using the USB cable yet, but I will give it a shot and see if there is any improvement. I ALWAYS felt the wired was superior to the wireless ... at least in my house.
One of the things I really wish they would bring back form FM4 is the affinity reward conerning parts. It was nice that after level 4 you got free parts within that manufacturer. That encouraged me to try tunning since I wouldn't lose credits if I didn't like the tune or wanted to try something else. Now when some of the parts cost as much if not more than the car I'm scared to try my hand at tuning. I really think that was a step backwards.
I am enjoying the leagues a lot. Something I hated about FM4's career mode was one race might be a C class hatchback and the next would be an A class muscle car. A lot of time having to go back and forth to the garage to get the car for the race. With FM5 I pick my car and race the entire schedule with it, awesome!
I think they do need to focus on getting the multiplayer side back again. To take car clubs out leaves everyone on the FM.net boards saying WTF! And Dan's interview saying they didn't take anything out cause they basically built a new game is to me BS. You don't build a new game and slap the same title as your last four versions on it.
Forza horizon was a franchised Forza not made by T10 just some other dudes lol
Exactly it was called Forza Horizon, not Forza 5. It was billed as a different type of game that had a storyline to it.
Making Forza 5 and saying it was a new game is like going to the movies to see Die Hard 3 and find out its about guy passing away after taking a Viagra.
Or Halo 4 and it is suddenly a kinect sports game.
I know they had to start probably from nothing since it was going to be on a next gen console. I'm sure there was some relearning involved and they were probably pressured to have it ready for X1 release. I just can't see them taking out so much of the community aspect purposefully when that was a great deal of the game for most. Its not like anyone played career over and over again to see what changed.
Well yes and no. I make enough to afford the parts, but I'm also saving for a car for the next league. So I basically go with what I hope is a good tune and deal with it. In FM4 I would attempt to tune my own cars and try different parts since there wasn't really a penalty if I got it wrong. When I'm trying to save for a higher class car that runs 200k, spending 50k for parts for a tune cuts into saving for it. I just don't race enough throughout the week for that. I have limited time in the evenings and I have other games too. This is my biggest gripe with FM5, they kinda knocked out the casual gamer. I join up and we start in Class C I can hang with it. But if we start going into the higher classes I don't have the car so I have to back out.
Even my 9 yr old has figured that out. He played a little the other night and asked why it was so hard to earn enough for the expensive cars. So he is back to playing FM4 where he can atleast pick up the game and have some fun, not take on a job so he can drive a virtual car.
Do not misinterpret this post as suggesting FM5 sucks, I have little doubt the game itself is top notch quality in all that it provides. But for those fan boys who can’t see that Turn 10 took out most of the good stuff for the sole purpose of implementing a pay to play token system I preset to you Ammo’s 9 year old who figured it out all on his own…Priceless!!!

Parcells, I do not think someone is a "fan boy" simply because they like Forza 5. I also do not agree that Turn 10 "took out most of the good stuff." Forza 5 is an entirely new game. It is not Forza 2, 3 or 4 with next gen graphics. The graphics are obviously better and no one has suggested that the FFB and physics are worse than prior Forza entries, Rivals mode is back and better than ever. The car and track selection, although few in numbers, is quite diverse, even if you compare to prior Forza games. Multiplayer is in the game and it sounds like the lobby freeze issues are a thing of the past and the chat quality is crystal clear, no doubt due to the new Xbox One and Xbox Live set up. All of that being said, a lot of significant features with the multiplayer have been taken out, including gifting of cars and tunes, storefront and car clubs. The economy is different, but not necessarily worse. In order to get going on Forza 4 credits, I had to spend $30 or $50 to buy Forza 4 credits. For Forza 5, however, I have not needed to do that because of the enhanced Forza rewards, as well as the free cars I got for buying the limited edition of the game. Yes, there are no more free cars for winning events or leveling up, but is that necessarily a bad thing? My recollection is that we "won" a lot of useless cars in prior Forza games and getting the credits is probably better, since that allows me to pick what I want to buy for my garage.
In sum, Forza 5 is not better or worse than prior Forza games. Rather, it is different.

Let me esplain the 'difference" to ll the uneducated masses out there...IE me, you, blue collars and some of the semi-professionals we hang with anyway cause they're just fun...
If you don't value a quick to pick up social racing experience where everyone can run in organized events with lots of trash talk and joking around regularly, then it's an okay game...
Why would anyone buy $50.00 worth of credits in Forza 4 ? They were throwing money at everyone early in the game? Only reason I can see is a late start maybe? And if it was necessary in 4, how is it not in 5?
I kinda agree with the 9 year old....but then again, I can relate...

Actually OldSchool, I do value a quick to pick up social racing experience and I think you can get that out of Forza 5, just in a diffferent way than prior Forza entries. That being said, Forza 5 not only requires a shift in expectations, it also requires an investment totaling at least $560, even if you play with a controller. If you need a wheel, then the investment increases to at least $1000 for the Thrustmaster TX wheel and pedal set and some sort of wheel stand to put it on. I totally respect folks like you that have decided not to get the Xbox One and/or the game. My point is that those of us that have decided to make the investment should not be labeled as "fan boys" because we like the game.
I bought the credits in Forza 4 because I thought when it was released that I would need them to get all of the cars in the game I thought I wanted, without the grind that otherwise would be required to earn the credits in game. I do not paint or tune and thus I had nothing to sell on the Storefront. Because of Forza rewards, and the tweaks that Turn 10 has made to the in-game economy, I am good on credits and cars at this point in Forza 5.

I'm currently around level 140 in Forza 5..I'm short on both cars and credits.

I am only Level 26. Too much competition for my sim racing time from iRacing and GT6.
come on though. it's been less then 3 weeks. everyone should not have the most expensive cars already. The game is made to be played for a long time.
I'm actually enjoying working towards the cars, no running the oval in the F1 car.
Not having access to cars really only bothers me when running with friends in multiplayer. I enjoyed the nights we ran in FM4 where we started in F class and went up to R1. Now though if you don't have the car for the class you have to decide, if your saving up for a car for a league do you go ahead andd buy a car to race with friends, or do you back out or ask them to change the car class?
I know in the long run credits won't really be an issue for me. But what for the people that buy the game later and want to race with us? We can't gift them money or cars. So we either have to race in a class that they have a car for or they have to wait til they can afford to race with us. Thats what my main concern is. Welcome to 2Old2Forza now start saving so you can race in our club events.
I personally have had no difficulty with credits because of the heavy payouts from Forza Rewards, which alone have gotten me $5 million in credits. I already have the F1 car, as well as the Mazda 787. As a limited edition and VIP, I will get getting a free car by December 16, which I will use to acquire an IndyCar.
The game works for me, even without the wheel. That being said, I understand that the more hardcore Forza multiplayer folks would not be as happy.
I am perfectly happy with FM5 as is. I like the struggle to collect credits and intentionally playing as an underdog because I like the feeling of looking forward to something then working towards achieving that objective. To me, T10 still has made progress too easy.
As great as multiplayer is, I am enjoying the Rivals mode; there are no crashes, no waiting time between races, NO shortage of challenges, and I can do it on my own time. It is just me, the car, the track, and the rival.
Must be careful with your choice of words when you know a lawyer will be reading it…even a lawyer who I’ve gained the utmost respect for. Obviously “fan boy” and “took out most of the good stuff” were poor choices in words when all I was trying to portray is that even a nine year old can figure out that all the options in previous Forza games that allowed you to make credits (and/or acquire cars) have mostly been removed in favor of token purchases.

Finally!!!!
I have my XB1
will be around in a bit max
has anyone tried wired vs. wireless controller for Forza? Notice any difference?
Is there a wired controller for the Xbox One?
If you plug any micro USB cable into the pad it turns the wireless feature off turning it into a dedicated wired pad.
I have looked but haven't seen any wired ones yet.

3min and 54 seconds.
what CPro said. Any micro USB makes it truly wired and shuts off the wireless.
That is fantastic!!!!
I will be using it wired from here on out for sure. I hope I can remove the battery while in wired mode to make it a bit lighter.
Very cool news for sure!
cheers!

but wasn't Forza Horizon very different? and it has the Forza name. Maybe they should've called it Forza X1, lol. Would that have been ok?
as far as the parts thing goes, don't you make enough in a couple races to pay for any parts you'd need anyway?
