Personally I felt that Active Camo functioned fine in Reach. I will say I was a bit disappointed by it compared to Halo 3 because there was no custom game option to have you completely cloaked even when moving at high speeds. However, for Halo 4 I think it should be functionally the same as Reach, but an ordinance powerup instead of a loadout. My reasoning behind this is that 343i has repeatedly said they want the action to be sped up, more often, and easier to find. Active camo slows down combat by making it harder to find your opponent.
If you compare it to the other armor abilities, even something like hardlight shield isn't as bad despite making it harder to kill someone. This is because they suddenly have a giant glowing thing in front of them making them easier to spot.

I've heard more than a few people saying "why would I pick a big orange sign to advertise my position".
Gotta say, I've seen more people dying using the HLS than surviving.
I'll only run AC with snipe if the other team has someone using it. IMO it keeps both snipers honest about camping. To echo Dixon, it's better as a Power Up. I need some popcorn.......

Like I think I mentioned earlier, I'd be happy if camo was back to the previous radar jamming capability. I wouldn't mind if it was an ordinance drop as that would help counter some of the snipe-camo situations. It would for sure lower the number of those situations at least. I just enjoy using camo not to hide myself, but to hide my teammate's movements around the enemy position.
Actually maybe I'd be happy if there was a radar jammer ability/modification, and no cloaking attached to it at all.
The problem is balance. One of the better AA's is gone from MMing (evade) and now we have AL, JP, AC all running around with unlimited use. Those functions should be limited, or be on the map as an equipment pickup.
The problem is catering to the CoD noobs. People want shorter engagement times, and IMO the 4 shot DMR was as fast as it needed to be. I really hope that I am wrong, but I don't think we will see much change with the armor abilities in H4, especially considering they are strengthening the camo AA. They will not be "game changers" but game breakers.

My Casual capabilities and choices aside, I believe that the kill times in Halo 4 are noticeably shorter than REACH or even Halo 3. Review those films from PAX and you will see what I think are very short kill times.
Now considering my Casual capabilities; since PAX, I have had my eyes opened to these apparent short kill times and I am not liking it to the point of concern. There is nothing I can do about it except change the way I play or just eat it. I am not going to be a better skilled shooter so the most I can change are my habits. I like Halo so I'll probably just get used to dying more than in previous games (eat it).

I do agree that the kill times seem shorter. However, you have to consider sometimes we are watching fairly lopsided games. The person playing may have very limited Halo experience or be a "pro". We are also watching video of people playing a brand new game, with a brand new sandbox of weapons on brand new maps. Some people may be just trying out new weapons or exploring the maps while others may have put on their tryhard pants.
What you need to watch for in videos is when good players are facing off against each other and in that regard I think the kill times seem more in line with Halo 3.
Just an opinion though. Obviously it's hard to formulate fact-based opinions just from watching videos.

Since your eyes have been opened to the idea of shortened kill times, does that start to let you see Reach, with its extended kill times, through a different lens?

Not sure what you mean but I offer this. I think the TU for REACH was an experiment in shortened kill times in preparation for Halo 4. I thought it before and I think I am seeing the results of it in Halo 4.
I liked vanilla REACH's kill times. I am concerned about what I see in Halo 4 but in less than two months it will be here and I will "Deal with it".
I actually think a person should be able to get a triple kill in slayer without reloading. That's a pretty difficult feat in Reach.
I will probably eat it, but if this game is horrible; I'm afraid my gaming career is over. :(
Don't need to reload your FIST!
if you do...you're not playing Halo!
i for one will enjoy shorter encounters. i've been playing some MLG lately and must admit that i really enjoy it even when being totally out classed. i like the fast pace despite the lack of sprint.
Agree, I don't like the longer kill times. It's not number of shots though. It's the pace of the game. To me, vanilla reach is too plodding. I like super slayer, it feels about right for this game. I'd like to move faster and jump higher, which we will be getting.

Kill times are too long in Reach. 4 shots should be it :)
I agree that kill times are currently too long. I'm looking forward to faster gameplay in Halo 4.

this ain't no spectator sport...get in or get OUT!
Just a little tidbit, I noscoped a couple camping camo noobs last night :D
And how exactly did Wamam and Deep react to that?
