I have to admit this was somewhat of a surprise. Especially being announced now, just a couple of days before launch.
Here's my question. If they are going to the trouble to design this CSR, then why not make it viewable in-game?
Anyway, I'm glad they are considering some type of skill-based ranking system. Even though I will assuredly be a low rank, I do like the fact they are trying something different. Granted, this could just be a simple tactic to drive more people toward Waypoint, but at least it's something for the "competitive" crowd.
So it will be sort of like BPR on Reach where nobody will actually give a rat's ass? Cool...
Let's hope this entire game is nothing like Reach.
In the live stream (earlier in the week) with Major Nelson, David Ellis (sp?), said they did not have a visible ranking system in the game based on amount of people in the past that would boost or try to manipulate the ranking system. He specifically mentioned H3 as one example, although we all know it just did not happen in H3.
Maybe they will end up changing it later on but at least it is a step in the right direction.
The de-ranking ruined Halo 2 for me.
Deranking sucks, but Modders in H2 were worse.
I dunno, I really enjoyed the scorpion shooting dead bodies :)
I am actually a fan of reach. I like bloom, and will take it any day over the BR spread from H3. The game plays so much better and has less lag (from shitty netcode) than previous titles.
I'm wierd like that though :)
The BR is hitscan in H4, which means (if my memmory searves me right) if one bullet hits, it is the same as 3 bullets hiting. H3 was not hitscan so the bullet spread was much more of a factor.
But yeah, netcode in 3 was a giant pile of crap. From game to game it could take 5,6,7, or 8 shots to take someone down.
