Heads up! - Halocouncil - Trojan:Win32/Sirefef Trojan:Win64/Sirefef
This is a precaution and maybe a false alarm.
After clicking on a link to Halocouncil.com from NeoGAF, I started getting Event Warnings about a Trojan called Trojan:Win32/Sirefef, Trojan:Win64/Sirefef and variants.
A very bad Trojan, as it happens.
Considering the recent DDos attacks on Halocouncil.com, I recommend caution visiting that site.
This is a warning that I cannot substantiate any further due to my limited PC skills and the high possibility this is all a software false alarm.
Subsequent scans by MS Security Essentials and Kaspersky did not find anything.
My PC's Event Viewer only has warnings for the few minutes I accessed Halocouncil.com.
Yeah, there was a big attack that took down their site. They moved to a blog format, I believe.
I immediately got this "checking your browser" thingy and then my Firewall wanted to know if I should allow something. Fuck 'NO' muther fucker.
Investigation powers, BEGIN. Probably all flase positive stuff but better safe than sorry.
Damn skippy. Make sure you update your spyware removal stuff.
