Since Exile is one of the most played and loopsided BTB maps (because of the Gauss) I just wanted to have some opinions on how to kill the guass if your RED team.
plasma pistol, sticky nades and the perk that gives you two nades at the start. Hopefully the people you play with are not selfish and do the same.
IMO, anytime you play BTB but especially on Exile and Ragnarock, your secondary should be plasma pistol and your grenade choice should be plasma. If everyone on your team does that there's usually not much issue with vehicles lasting a super long time. Plasma pistol is especially good for the heavy hitters like the tanks and mantis.

The only problem with this is that a smart gauss driver never goes passed the bridges. The range and power of the gauss allows you to just patrol your base area and get a large number of kills.
The one thing I've noticed is the gauss goes tank side alot to kill the tank. Red team has sniper, tank and if someone is fast, rockets all on the right. If I was running a team I would have my best sniper grab snipe and hug the left wall because the gauss will be watching the tank and arch. The sniper should be able to get 2-3 good shots at the gauss forcing to retreat long enough to get the tank out. It has to be a team effort, blue team can easily get up be 10 plus kills really fast.

See this is the problem with the balance issues on Exile. The gauss team can literally "camp" their side - as you said, never crossing the bridges - and dictate the game. When an opposing team actually plays this way, it's a frustrating experience.
What 343 had in mind when designing the sandbox for this map is baffling. The tank is the issue. Take the tank out and give both sides a gauss and then both sides can duke it out for gauss supremacy.
Granted, if the map had been made where the tank spawned in a more neutral location, like the banshee, the gauss would not be needed on just the blue side to "balance" the map.
But no, I guess 343 had to put the tank somewhere on some map, so an unbalanced sandbox is what we have to deal with on Exile.
Well, no matter - with Infinity gametypes, vehicles are useless or ignored. I used to love driving, now it's mostly a waste of time (especially the turret warthog) and people don't care about gunning unless it's the gauss.

Very well said, and I feel the same way. There's no real use in using the turret hog anymore, since it's so ridiculously underpowered compared to almost every other vehicle, including the ghost. I could see it being very useful on maps where it's the only vehicle (ala H3 valhalla or standoff).

Yeah, it's confusing. Both teams have an equal shot at the tank even though red will always be there first. Even adjusting initial spawns may not save the gametype from being unbalanced, at the start. You give blue access to gauss and hog, and a fair shot at banshee and tank, a guarenteed ghost and the chance of another. Red gets a hog, first chance at the tank, and a fair shake at getting the banshee and 2 ghosts. I can't see how adding another gauss would even things up, but if you place another at red base on the left side, maybe?

Yeah, I didn't mean add another gauss to Red side in addition to what currently spawns. I was saying maybe remove the tank in favor of a Red side gauss.
However, seeing how the tank is only on Exile, I guess they don't want to take it off the map.
Meh...I dunno...this is why BTB makes me want to kick puppies...
I usually hide until my teammates get killed while taking it out. :D Or rush snipe and take out the gunner while your team rushes tank, then put shots into the hog to weaken it.
Right, if you aren't going to at least run a PP as secondary, don't bother playing BTB. It is always going to be more useful for your team than a pistol or boltshot will be for you.
As for Exile in particular. The best thing to counter a gauss is to hold the center [ B dominion ]. You can do sorties with another player. You will die, no avoiding that. I am usually successful at immobilizing the guass and getting 2 stickies onto it before the gunner kills me.
[edit] forgot to add my BTB loadout always includes Operator and Gunner perks.

QFT. The only way I run BTB is with this loadout plus stickies.
I could see a strategy where two people grab gauss and position themselves on blue side, then 2 or 3 people rush the scorpion because (and correct me if I'm wrong) red has to cross a path to get to the scorpion so depending on how many people go for the tank you could easily take them out and take over scorpion as well and destroy...
Regarding the debate on scorpion vs. guass for red, the scorpion is one shot kill as well would it not be possible to take out the gunner on the guass to control? I've had games where I couldn't take the scorpion out any better than I could take the guass out (and I agree with you guys it depends on how many people work towards taking it out), which like I mention in the first paragraph really sucks when they both get both vehicles...
A fair and simple solution IMO would be to make the tank spawn on the red side of the archway, that way you're not running in the open and essntially an easy target for the gauss. Blue spawns on the gauss so red should be able to spawn right on the tank. Either that or allow some initial spawn points on the tank (I know there are respawn points there) so red can hop right in it.
I think what really nerfs most vehicles is the PP/plasma grenade loadout. Thats why I like Exile because there is a vehicle that can rain some havoc, but it can be very frustrating at time.
Take what Dixon said with a bag of salt. He is not the most open minded person when it comes to Halo.
In his own twisted way the invite is sincere yet douchey.
Ders,
LB touches sheep. Also, he is on late(r) (he's West Coast) and he might be one of those guys you may want to play more with. He's right in one aspect, though: I'm not the most open minded person when it comes to Halo, but I ask you to say which one of the two of us was in the mixer last night.
Also, LB performs enemas with nacho cheese. He calls it "The Bosco Stick".

This is my default for all BTB games.
Same, it's so easy to turn the tide of a battle with a vehicle spree, so don't let the enemy have vehicles. ;)

The Tanks Home is on Vortex alone
Don't vote for exile.
One does not simply vote against exile. Well, unless you like being outvoted 10+ to 1.
One does not simply play BTB. Can't get outvoted that way.
Eh, I've found BTB easiest to do better in when playing alone (outside of FFA of course), which is my situation 95% of the time.
Look at all these people on this site.
Seriously. Look at them. Now you meet them, mingle with them, and play with them.
There. You are now no longer playing alone.

LOL, didn't really read anything negative there.
Dixon, me playing alone is more a function of the times when I'm available (late nights typically), I try to play with 2o2p folks when I see them on.
Doesn't matter, they nerfed the SHIT out of the gauss.
