Just what i needed -FFS
Wife calls at work. The family shed lost all power on a fast section of the A24. No hard shoulder but police there in 5 minutes and AA in 25. Wife and car safely recovered. Happy about that.
Quick phone call to my friendly indie garage.
Knew it was bad. They phoned an hour later. Not worst case thankfull but a minimum of £2000.
Then add £15 per valve damaged +vat.
Could go north to £2500.
Happy bloody Christmas.
Off skiing tomorrow
Timing belt?
Cambelt/timing yeah
I call it a shed. In truth it looks like one inside (2 young kids) but is worth repairing being an 08. Very tidy if totally boring, with suspension like a wallowing pig. Maybe it was intended for the US market (ducks and runs for cover at his FM.net style comment
). I just refer to it as a shed compared to the MR2, which never fails to make me smile in the twisties.
Not quite fair comparing the transport to a 2 seater mid engine...
Saw this and had to respond not in a one up way but more of a com-padre way.
11/05/2013 Was blindsided by drunk driver and my 94 Chevy Astrovan was totaled. Was badly bruised but still kicking with multiple physical therapy sessions done and more in the future. Settled with his ins co for a crummy $1350 for the car because it's cheaper for them to total it than to spend 4-6 grand to fix it. Spent last 2 weeks trying to find another used car that wouldn't require me to dip too far into my pocket. But while shuttling 3 peoples schedules in one car my wife's Kia's alternator died and thankfully my Marine son was home for the week and could come to pick me up, etc. Got Kia and new used Ford Taurus so life was good until last night when blower on furnace died but had to wait until today to get new one. So made do with 2 portable electric heaters and baseboard heaters in basement while outside in Chgo IL area it's a frosty 0 degrees F. Heat rises (or so I've been told). House is a bearable 60 degrees F until buddy comes over late tonight or tomorrow with new blower.
Happy New Year buddy. PS. Did you break anything skiing?
