Level 28 weekly strike

Anyone interested in trying the weekly strike on level 28 setting tonight? If I remember correctly it gives out 9 strange coins if completed. With Xur coming tomorrow the extra coin would be nice. BKVic

That's an understatement. I would say an Arc Sniper and Arc Rockets are the way to go after my experience soloing the Nightfall. Those wizards are nasty.

If I'm available, I'll be glad to help.

I've done two different methods of beating this one that makes Phogoth easy - it's just getting to him that's tough.

You soloed it?  I soloed last week's no problem.  This one seems like it would be really really hard.  3 of us got our asses kicked.  Even once you get past the wizards, I am not sure how I would beat the big meanie.  Is there some way to cheese it?

Taking your time in the room, running out when the badies are there, and running back in to shoot the boss, there is always the 2 open area where they can't reach you but you have to be patience.. Don't forget sometime alone is eaiser because the Wizards are easier to kill, someone is with you, there damage is twice as tough, and a 3 rd player well you get the picture.. 3x time harder.

If you're doing the weekly heroic strike, arc weapons won't be much help as there is no arc modifier. You'll want to use solar weapons on the wizards

Yeah, I was thinking of the Nightfall that has Arc Burn this week.

Stay inside the entry room to do your fighting - shoot at the Phogoth through the open doorway, retreat deeper into the entry room(s) when necessary. Takes time, but works. Some of the Wizards appear invulnerable - some are killable. There's a cadence to the fight, so you can shoot at the Phogoth on a pretty regular schedule. Be patient.

I keep thinking there must be a safe spot outside in the cavern, but I haven't found it yet. I have one more idea of where that might be, but haven't gone there yet. It's a big high jump to get there (high up in the center-near side - there's a cavity in the structure).

There is a cheese way as mentioned above where you hide and snipe through the small opening in the door.

The other way is to enter the cavern and clear ALL the adds on the left side and middle of the room - leave the ones on the right alone as they won't bother you. Also, make sure you do NOT shoot at Phogoth until all adds are cleared on left and mid - only then shoot and release him.

Move to the bottom left and stay in the dirt area between the two rocks, in fact this is where you should probably start shooting to release Phogoth. If you stay in this area between the rocks, you'll only have to deal with one drop ship with a Knight and some Thrall - so keep an eye out. Once those are done it's all about shooting Phogoth - the other adds will not spawn if you did this right.

I did this twice last night and it works like a charm. I also did the snipe from the room before you enter the cavern too. It works but takes longer and you have to be wary of the shrieker that spawns and makes you retreat further back so it will despawn.

I guess they may both be considered cheese, but the first way seems easier and faster. If you don't get through it or this doesn't make sense let me know and we can knock it out at some point.

Thanks.  I actually accidentally discovered the place between the two rocks the other day.  I dont think that is a cheese spot because you are exposed and actually have to fight.  It does offer good protection though.

The doorway is definately cheese, which I abhore, but I might get desperate later in the week. :)

The place that no one can get you , is completely on your left outside the door, just before the edge in the rocks, has never failed me. Only once where I wasn't looking and backed up and fell of the edge - LOL

But no problem I have a warlock, I just revieved myself and kept on shooting the boss till he dies

I did this weeks alone at lvl 26 I think.

Tried sniping through the small gap from just outside the Shreeker roon. Pathetic results. My snipers barely did 400 damage. Running to opening and unloading a full clip then running straight back was better. Used bubble too. 700-ish. Mostly I just hammered him with Dr Nope and some rockets.

The trip in is the hardest part. Constant retreating.
