Live Stream with Bungie this Saturday!
Live Stream with Bungie this Saturday!
Hey guys,
2old2play will be doing a live stream play through with team Bungie this Saturday 7/26/2014 at 6PM PDT on our Twitch channel at http://www.twitch.tv/2Old2play.
Everyone can come in, watch the stream, play with us, and more importantly ask any questions you might have (and they're willing to answer) as we play. It should be a lot of fun!
Make sure you follow us on twitch so that you can be notified as soon as we go live! The more support we show from our community the more of these events we can pull of with Bungie! See all you Guardians this Saturday.
Also, dont forget that you can join our Destiny Clan and Group on the Bungie site now by going to http://www.bungie.net/en/Clan/Forum/61979. 2o2p is looking to really change our communities dynamic and create an open place for anyone to game together that is a part of the sit. Destiny is the first game where we are trying this idea as we slowly phase out clans and move to a site what community of open groups. Join up!
Where do I turn in my Pass to actually be IN the event?
Is it PS4 or XB1?
^^^
I'll probably be working Saturday night, so I'll miss the stream. I hope you have a good response.
Please pass along to Bungie my gratitiude for taking time to hang out with our community.
Its going to be Xbox One!
Fun, we can ask questions they're willing to answer. So we won't find out why the MP is heavily influenced by CoD instead of Halo or why the radar is the atrocious mess that it is, but I'm sure if we ask them what their favorite class is or favorite color Sparow they'd be happy to answer.
Deej is a fairly open guy about the game and I don't see him really swaying away from questions. However what you purpose isn't even a question, its a statement. It's also not a statement I would even personally agree with. I prefer the radar in Destiny and have always felt that Halo relied WAY to heavily on showing detailed information of where enemies are. I also see a lot more Halo then COD in Destiny. However I wouldn't state that as fact either, its just my opinion.
Which Halo lets you spawn with a shotgun or sniper rifle again? Or has a commando style melee lunge? Or a throwing knife? I admit I could be wrong, but I seem to remember Halo being more based on skill. You have to be accurate with your 4 shots and 1 to the head. Here you just grab an assault rifle and spray away. You have to have at least a little talent with grenades to get a kill out of em, instead of just throwing one that explodes half the map for you. You'd have to fight over control of a shotgun or sniper rifle instead of everybody just having one.
And my complaint isn't that the radar isn't accurate, it's that it's still there. Why do we need a system that constantly shows you where the enemy is at all times? At least in Halo if you crouch you disappear off it, you still show up in Destiny. But, you're right. Maybe all those things I said are just opinion and don't actually happen in game.
But if you want things that aren't statements, here ya go. With a promised 10 years of support, will we actually get more content for Destiny, or does that just mean they'll release Destiny 3 9 years from now?
Why in 2014 do we still have cutscenes that you can't skip or pause?
What is the thinking behind making the game online only? Some people have kids running around or things to do, might be nice for them if they can pause in the middle of a 20+ minute boss fight instead of dying and having to restart cause the kid cried.
I have more than 2 friends. I understand a fireteam is only 3 people, but for most of your missions you're just out there on the world map with random people, how do I or why can't I make those people my friends so we can all be in party chat and have fun together?
Will we get access to alien style weapons? I'd like to use one of those homing guns or the shrapnel launcher. Since it's the future and all I'd imagine we can do better than regular bullets.
What's the point of the hand cannon? It does the same damage as a scout rifle, but has less range and ammo.
I think you might be playing the wrong game. This is why I usually only play at night once the kids are off in bed, it sucks but it's better then having to constintly pause a game or just get annoyed.
I saw on Earth last night that some of the missions you can have a Fireteam of 1-6 people. My friends and I did Devils' Lair last night and saw another guy running around part of it, he was green like he was in our Fireteam even though he wasn't. Not sure if it was a bug or it was giving us the ability to team up with him if we wanted to.
And that's cool for you, so I suppose since you personally play at night when your kids are sleeping that nobody else would ever need to pause for any reason, right? This isn't an mmo where you need all the classes to balance things out, there's no reason this can't be done solo and offline.
Before you get to the darkness area where you can't respawn it shows other players as green. But you can't invite them or join them or anything.
Destiny is an FPS mixed with a MMO. The way the higher levels are designed, there is no way you could do them solo. Just doing the Devil's Lair with 3 guys took us a while to kill the Devil Walker, not to mention all the guys we had to fight through the level. There are parts of the game you can do by your self just like an MMO, but when it comes time to do a big part, you have to team up. There are the classes like you stated Titan = tank, Warlock = healer, and the Hunter = attacker (couldn't think of the name of a high attack class.)
I'm writing a few questions that should be safe for them to answer and are not embarrasing to them.
Well to start out with you said:
This orginal statement was opinion and only after my comment did you followed up with examples so its kind of hard for me to know what you're talking about from just that one sentence. As far as drawing parallels to COD, I'm sure you can do that in any game (Including Halo Reach), but Destiny isn't supposed to be Halo 5. There are a great many things that mimic the old style of Halo in Crucible including things like, heavy weapons spawning on set timers in set locations (yeah Halo 2!), vehicle combat, slower pacing with movement, longer kill times, styles, map design, and general strategies. There's also a lot from COD, WoW, Quake, Goldeneye, etc.....
However Bungie left the Halo universe long ago to try and do something different. To just isolate Destiny to these elements in order to call it COD fails to capture the vast size of the game itself. In fact Destiny is far more MMO then COD I'd say. If anythign they've borrowed most of their elements of gameplay from games like WoW, Planetside, and Borderlands then any other game.
In the end, it seems more like you are looking to play another version of Halo, and if that's the case I think you're going to find much better results with 343 instead of Bungie. However I do think your question are great (especially the ten year plan) and will certainly be asking them during the stream.
So you're saying I'm wasting my time crouching in PvP?
Pretty sure those cut scenes are fancy loading screens.
I'm hoping the three player limit in PvE is only for the beta and will be expanded in the retail release. This is my biggest hang up on buying in Sept and would love to have this answered on Sat.
Totally at the top of my list as well. Hate only having 3 in a squad.
Yes and no. Crouching keeps you on the radar, but you appear slightly less often. Unless you're close enough to fill the center circle, then you're permanently on there So all crouching does is make you move slower while everyone else is sprinting with their shotguns
The scenes where you're watching your ship are probably load screens. The one you watch when you do the first mission where your guy talks to that guy in the mask? Just an unskippable scene.
I wouldn't count on it.
Those scenes set the story line so im sure for beta they will remain unskipable for now. I'd bet they change that at launch, but who knows. I personally HATE not being able to skip them.
I'm not looking for another Halo, I'm just not looking for another CoD which the PvP in this feel FAR too much like. While it does take elements of other games the vast majority of what I see is people spawning with a shotgun and just running towards the nearest red spot, or with a sniper rifle and finding a nice corner to sit in.
While we're on the subject of questions, Why force us to use our melee ability as soon as it's ready? Sometimes I don't want to super punch the mostly dead dreg in my face, I want to save it for the captain but I don't have a choice.
I would also love to know what the post level 20 plan is for us. It seems like the only way to get a better weapon or helmet is by leveling up, but if the cap is a low 20, we're gonna hit that quick. What's my incentive to go do the hour+ long raids when I can't earn xp or better gear? I get that killin the bosses is fun, but then why bother with the whole 1-20 thing to begin with if I'm going to have my best gear that quick?
I think that's fair.
Great questions!
I guess if you want to put it in question form, why let us spawn with shotguns and snipers which would inevitably lead to camping and general CoD-ish gameplay when they could have made special and heavy ammo a pick up to fight over? That way people are encouraged to move all around the map instead of just sitting in their favorite corner.
I'd also like to know why we have to use the circle cursor in the menus. It's neat to look at the first time, but it really does just take longer than simple D-pad navigation.
A clash of worlds. I'll have to tune in to see.
traitor!
I thought somebody cooked you? ;)
Will this be recorded? I've got to work that night, but if any questions actually get answered I'd like to hear it.
My questions for Deej:
1. Will there be an equivalent to the flaming helmet from Halo 3 in Destiny?
2. What do bungie employees wear to stand out from the regular folk in PvP?
3. Will Bungie be bringing back the Weekly Humpday Challenge? If so, lets do a Bungie vs 2old2play series! Or are you too scared?
Twitch
When you are in a zone, you will have two options to interact with players. Once, you go to your character screen, bumper left to roster, and there is a column dedicated to players near you. Two, you can point at the user, press down on the right thumb stick to select a player, and press menu to interact with that player.
From there you can invite players into your fireteam and turn those green titles blue.
Here's a question. They are doing the event tomorrow afternoon/evening. Is this going to be a common thing where you have to be in the game during a time window to unlock things or a 1 time deal?
Will there be a weapon that has DOT? I need more DOTs :)
How are the fire teams for things like Devils Lair created? i.e. are they filled with 1 of each class or 1st come 1st serve? Just wondering if there is an "ideal" group like other MMOs.
Why, in a co-op game where they encourage me to play with my friends, can I not trade with my friends? If they did it so people can't dupe weapons or mod shit, then there's no reason to keep the game online only. One or the other, not both.
So, must we submit our questions in advance here, wait for stream or ask in game?
