Nordschleife - GT6 vs FM4

So I have come to the conclusion that the GT6 version is much tougher than the FM4 in that the penalty for stepping off track is much greater and it requires you to be a bit more cautious in some of the corners.

In FM4, I felt you could be far more aggressive especially in some of the higher speed corners and if you dipped a wheel off, the car could still be saved. Also, getting into the carousel has been a bitch for me.  In FM4, I could get in there with no problems but in GT6 I find you can get thrown out (and onto the flat portion) much easier.  Additionally, the GT6 version seems to be much bumpier and you can really feel the track and when the car unloads and then re-grips the track in the FFB. Can be a bit of a shock if your not ready for it.

I think FM4 "races" better than GT6 however for true test of driving ability, GT6 gets my vote as you really have to drive the car more.

What's everyone take on it?

I agree. Love GT's version, it's a bitch and a real challenge!

The ring in GT6 is a lot more real. After watching countless videos of people racing on the ring I know where they are in relation to GT6. Driving it in Forza is more fun as you can drive like a super hero but GT6 pulls you in and makes you work for it.

Green hell is the right way to describe it.  I have been running the Ring for over three years, first in GT5, now in GT6, and I am no closer to understanding it than I was in November 2010, the month GT5 was released.  frown

Its like learning a all new track.  Yes I know where the corners are and the layout however you have to drive it very differently IMHO.  The problem areas that you had to watch out for in FM4 I can fly through where as there are several new areas to watch out for in GT6.  After about 20 laps in various cars, im starting to get better lap times now.  Still tough to be aggressive enough for the hot lap time yet still keep it on the track for the entire lap.  Fun as hell though.  I was really concerned when I first ran the track in GT6.  Must have spun out 6 times at least.crying

I've driven a few laps of the ring back it 2011, in the outing rain no less. My ride was a Clio RS 200 cup. GT 6 is not just good, its dead on. I took a pro instructor with me and he shared some of the oddities and less than initiative techniques and why... Its relevant in GT.

night time racing/driving in GT 6 really showed the texture and contours of the track.

im no expert on the ring, its 40 laps on the ring compared to 3 laps on any other track just to learn the basics.

GT isn't just better, its spot on and as far as I can tell the most accurate digital recreation in any product.
