not good news for fanatec wheel users

This does not sound promising for those of you with Fanatecs.

Well,I thought this was what was going on with the wheels. I just sort of expected that with the controller having new connection protocols that it would have to transfer over to the wheel. I Pre-ordered but still have not decided on whether I will actually buy the wheel. It depends on a few other factors. The madcatz wheel has the capability of swapping out the wheel rim. That is surprising.

The madcatz wheel looks the better option of the two, I wonder how much it costs?

This news sucks but maybe Thomas can pull a "miracle" and provide us with an adapter anywayscheeky.  I'll still get the new system but will stay with the controller and give all the wheel manufacturers the time to see what other 'better' wheels may eventually show up on the market.  Looks like a large chunk 2O4F will be on FM4 for a while anyways so I can get my real wheel racing kick from those series.

I agree Skiwi. I think the transition for the club as a whole will take quite some time to happen. Those of us who do go on will be sure to rack up the CR and garages so that as people get the new machines we can spread the wealth. Same goes for paints and decals. I do think that the Thrustmaster wheel will be every bit as good as the current Fanatec wheels, though. I'm Jjst waiting to see what pedals and shifters will be available.

I had generally written off getting an Xbone, but this has kind of sealed the deal - I'd rather stick with a wheel that works on PS3 and PC too thanks.

I keep seeing more and more people dropping out of the transition to the Xbone and Forza 5. I totally understand why. I feel like its way too much to ask of the community to absorb this great cost to be able to use a wheel with this game. Many of the same people who already spent hundreds after T10 endorsed an officially licensed Forza wheel. That bites. There are so many people here that I won't be able to race with that its starting to give me second thoughts about the whole thing. I've played this game with a game pad and a wheel. The only reason I went back to the game pad was because I had a new baby boy and just couldn't get downstairs to the play room anymore. Driving with the wheel is amazing. So totally immersive. Shit, I built a rig from scratch for that very reason.  I guess what I'm saying is that I'm ticked off at this decision. I guess I'll have some decisions to make in a few weeks. I'm off to go watch some GT6 gameplay videos.

Ive cancelled the XBone preorder, but retained the FM5 LCE order.

I'm not shelling out the sort of cash needed to replace my elite and csp's.

If the MC was max £200, I might think of it depending on basic functionality and quality.

I think I read that the MC is going to be about £300 but cant remember where. If so, who do they think theyre kidding.

And then you have to consider being locked into a single platform.

So its a no for early adoption.

As Church has said, there will be plenty of us on FM4 for a while.

Lets hope there might be a fanatec work around eventually, but i seriously doubt it.

Yeah Gizzie. Have never played GT. Word on GTPlanet and a few other places I lurk is that GT6 may not be quite what the fans want. However, I think it might make a refreshing change and a 2nd hand PS3 is pretty cheap I think.

GT6 =PS3?

GT7=hinted at by PD=PS4

Any advice on which model of PS3?

mine isw an older large box 80 gig i think it never really gets used anymore, but i think you can pick one quite cheap, i will say that GT5 on track is every bit as good as forza, its the menus etc that are shite.

i might think about a new wheel middle of next year but if the clubsports wont work on them i wont
