There are some sections that, if you chop them up, might make some interesting maps. Wonder if that's even possible with our gimped Forge.
Depends on what objects are included. Forge is not really so gimped you can't make what you want. It's more about the Forge palette. That aside, this map and Outcast look like Thursday night favourites.

This makes me so glad I didn't pre-buy the map packs.

No, Forge is gimped because of the amount of screen lag you get with a decent budget, especially on split screen.

Yes, there can be screen lag. It manifests itself differently depending on the map and the chosen objects. Forge specific maps should handle more forged objects while these fully built maps can't. So I think closing off areas may work depending on what objects get used. Sometimes only a soft killzone is required. Other times a wall or shield is required. Each map is different and requires experimentation. None of the full maps should be considered a Forgers paradise. I repurposed the junkyard of Spire and it didn't suffer from more screen lag because I used very few objects.

Man, am I glad the rest of the Forging community and the people trying to make good maps, particularly for compettiive play, all making that stuff up. /obvious sarcasm

Too many maps made by the community are over built, no matter their purpose. Screen lag is perhaps less in Halo 4 than REACH but I am not absolutely sure one way or the other. I reviewed quite a few maps in REACH for screen lag and it was bad. If you were to say the base Forge maps plus author selected objects combine to make a big fuck up, I'd agree. My opinion is that Forged maps and serious competitve play are currently not a good mix. Other problems crop up during host changes too. Some objects may not spawn for everyone. May not happen on Lan but is currently happening on Live.
Yeah, I was an idiot and gave 343i money beforehand. Never again.
Right. I was under the impression they were being done by 343i. If I had known it was from CA, I would have thought about it much longer. Much more of a 50/50 than going LE to do LE.

CA has been.doing maps since Halo 2. Did you not like any of them?

Anniversary were good, but the original versions. Not the Reached up ones.

So you do like some of CA's work. Nobody likes all of the maps from any of the developers. So I don't understand the CA hate. It seems disproportionate. To me it's like, somebody starts saying they hate a Halo product and then a cadre starts pig piling on the rain train. It doesn't make any sense to me. Drags me down worse than any problems with the games.

Well, let's get something definitive with this. Is there somewhere where we can figure out exactly what developers had a hand in making what maps? I know that the Majestic map pack was made with 343 and CA, and that Ca had more/all sway over the other two map packs, but what about the maps that shipped with the title/ What about previous titles?

I just want more small team maps. I know there reasoning behind this shit is sprint, but that's a cop out. I used sprint most of the time in Reach, and it still seemed like the maps were too big.
The series is beyond the point of no return. They cannot, in their minds, justify having default sprint and a smallish map. They think they have to compete with battlefield and call of duty. Which sadly they now do, as they have abandoned what kept me playing halo-small team/squad based maps.
Now, I can run the map like a lone wold and do suprisingly well. This game is a foul cry from what Halo used to be. Some call that great, I call it innovation just for the sake of sales. The halo series has deeply disappointed it's core fan base. People whose Halo 2/3/Reach games were in the tray 90% of the time or more.
Call it what you will deep, but the bait and switch has happened MANY times in this game. They did NOT announce that the maps would be outsourced, they did not mention that map pack people would get the same stuff as LE people, and the game took way too long to patch. They are done with this game, and have moved onto H5 in full swing. Look at the weekly/monthly challenges, they are already repeating quite frequently. They are done, sadly as I think many of us are.
The only thing that keeps me playing are friends and clan night. If it weren't for that, I'd probably JUST play Call of Duty, which I regretfully didn't buy and got H4 only.

For me, this is the only reason for belonging to a community like this and playing a game like Halo. Otherwise I'd just be buying it for campaign and playing solo. I don't see a problem.
Lots of talk about how it looks, BS about where some imaginary people live and work. They've forgotten that this is a game. What matters most is if it's fun to play.
I thought CA was originally comprised of former Bungie employees and made a couple of maps for H2. I don't remember them doing anything for H3 and they were brought back into the fold to do one of the Reach map packs and the CEA maps.
I could be, and probably am, wrong.
Also, I believe they have created maps for some of the COD games.

You're right. They did Tombstone and Desolation (Hang 'em High and Derelict) for H2 and then the Defiant and Anni Map Packs for Reach.

The owner, was an early bungie employee. From CA website.

Blastacular Map Pack resurrected two multiplayer maps for Halo 2, including the king of Halo maps, Hang ‘Em High. Loaded with all-new graphics, features and a few hidden surprises, the remade map, Tombstone, offered fans the familiar catwalks and dangerous trenches that made this the most requested Halo multiplayer map ever.
The second map, Desolation, was a beautiful remake of the original Halo map Derelict. With new graphics, effects, and a massive gameplay overhaul, Desolation was faster-paced and more balanced.
CA also made maps for REACH and now Halo 4. I'm not sure about Halo 3.

You know, I had the same thought as I watched the video - "hey, this area would be a cool map" - then they would keep going and going and going...
Section it off and there may be some good 4v4 maps...lol
Yeah, I was an idiot and gave 343i money beforehand. Never again.
Yup, I made the same mistake.

wrong thread (am I missing a way to delete?)
It doesn't look that big. I'll have fun on it.

Not sure about CoD.
Cold Storage.
Me likey this one. Cool city map with ghosts and hogs.
I was excited about cold storage when it came out. I don't recall every playing a single real game on it. I think I walked through it once...
There's nostalgia for you, messing with your mind.
