Project Cars 1.4

The 1.4 patch is live for Project Cars is up on the xbox.   I did a few races last nigth and the FFB on my Tx is now on par with the PC I believe.  I'm using the same settings as I had on the pc and there is a huge difference from how weak it was before.

I hadn't messed with any races in the rain but from what I read on the forums most people are seeing an improvement in the smoothness.   I'm going to test in the kart tonight on a track that always had some stuttering and see if it got fixed.

Will have to see if this has affected AI cars to change to Inters and Wets during a race as this was a major gripe for me.

According to some PS4 feedback on the patch it didnt help the AI being immune to rain....but it did help with the FFB on the wheels...

EDIT===== How do I know if I have the patch?? I just fired the game up and it didnt tell me I had an Update pending. I keep my Xbox on Standby mode..I want to make sure before I drag my wheel out....

Buddy had a , I wanna say '66 Bronco(?) small straight six, was a fun ride, very clean. I on the other hand, had a 66 4wd GMC long bed step-side on 16" military tires. Literally a tank. Was the ugliest truck I could find for playing in the woods. This after watching idiots blow 10's of thousands on new trucks and head out into the woods.

This is a 67 with a 302 in it..Was my truck in high school. Has a 5 inch "homemade lift kit" on it. Unlike your buddies, mine has alot of battle scars. All my friends in school (with brand new trucks) always wanted to go hunting with me cause I wasn't scared to dent it up. Has a dent from headlight to tail light on one side...Shit we do when we are young

I never got the message about an update either.  I did a hard reset by holding my finger on the power button until the xbox shutoff then restarted just to make sure.   No messages or anything when I started the game but when I got into the first car it was immediately noticable that the patch had been applied.   With a overall ffb of 40 in the F1 car I could barely turn the wheel.   Turned it down to 26 like on the PC and it feels great.

FFB is much better now on the Xbox One with the TX wheel.  Even I had to turn it down, and I love lots of FFB.

The game plays well now, but I am still getting some random stuttering in the audio and the graphics.  As far as the graphics, it could be frame rate slowdown.  I guess I am spoiled with GT6, Forza 5 and Forza Horizon 2, all of which stay locked at a certain FPS and rarely have slowdown.

Ok, played Pcars and I can tell the UI was a little different, FFB was VERY strong had to tone it down alot. Started racing in Carreer and the cars and track felt like they were rubber banding like I had bad lag in a Online race. So did a hard reset and it seems to have gotten rid of it......weird

Yea I ran some kart races last night and still getting the frame issues on the track in Dubai. When coming out of a turn on that track if you touch the red and white rumble strips there is a nori blue drop in frames.

Patch 1.4 went live on my Xbox One and I also updated the firmware on my TX wheel to version 49, which was released late last week specifically to "Optimize Xbox One Force Feedback Protocol."  I played Project CARS on my Xbox One with my TX wheel for several hours this weekend and the FFB is MUCH better.  It is plenty strong and there is now center spring.  The FFB on the Xbox One version is just as good as the FFB on the PC version.  In case you missed them, here are the general settings I am using for the FFB:

In PCars control panel

Overall Force Feedback 100

Tire force 100

Per Wheel Movement 0.0

Per Wheel Movement squared 0.0
Wheel Position Smoothing 0.04
Deadzone removal range .05
Deadzone removal falloff .01
Linkage Scale 0.0
Linkage Stiffness 1.0
Linkage Damping 1.0
Relative Adjust Gain .98
Relative adjust Bleed .10
Relative adj clamp .96
Scoop Knee .70
Scoop Reduction .25
Soft Clipping (Half Input) 0.0
Soft Clipping (Full Output) 0.0

Under Vehicle Tuning Setup > Force Feedback > Spindle

Master Scale 20 (I sometimes increase this if the FFB for a particular car is light)
Fx Scale 54
Fy Scale 54
Fz Scale 60
Mz Scale 90.01 (this is almost like spring center, it will determine how much resistance you get turning the front wheels)

All Smoothing set at 0.0

Arm Angle 1200

Under Vehicle Tuning Setup > Force Feedback > Body & SOP

Body Scale 0.01
Body Longitudinal Scale 0.01
Body Stiffness 100
Body Damping 100

SoP Scale 100
SoP Lateral Scale 70
SoP Differential Scale 100
SoP Damping 0.0

If you are experiencing issues with stuttering and/or frame rate slowdown, do a hard reset of your Xbox One.  I also read a post over at the Project CARS forums that advised setting the Power to "Power Save" mode, instead of "Instant On" mode.  That will eliminate some background apps from interfering with Project CARS.  Also, I read that its good to shut the game down each time you finish playing, rather than keeping it running and then resuming.  SMS is working on Patch 1.5, which they say will increase the FPS by another 10-15% and help with slowdown on some of the worst tracks.

At this point, IMO the Xbox One version of Project CARS with the TX wheel is ready for primetime and is finally fully functional and very enjoyable!!!!  yes

My experience was that the firmware upgrade did improve the FFB feel.  I did try my TX post patch 1.4, but before upgrading the firmware to version 49.  The FFB was still good, I just think it felt even better with the new firmware.

Wow...it does feel alot stronger/smoother with the dowload...Felt a huge difference in FH2....but since the patch I get a "rubber banding" feeling while in career...no matter track/car. The game is not crashing or skipping...just slow/fast all the time like lag in a multi player lobby.....any idea??

I had the same problem.  I read up on the official forums and there were a couple of suggestions I followed to avoid this problem.  First, do a hard reset of your Xbox One by disconnecting it from power entirely for a few minutes and then plug it back in.  Second, change your power settings to Power Saver  rather than Instant On.  That will avoid some background apps from running that could interfere with Project CARS.  And finally, always run the game fresh, rather than resuming it.  What I do is close the game every time I finish playing it so that it boots up fresh every time.  Yes, it takes extra time, but it seems to help with the lag.

Patch 1.5 is coming soon and per Ian Bell, SMS's Head of Studio, should give a 10-15% bump in FPS and should help with some of the bottlenecks on several tracks.
