Question for MS wheel users

Hey all,

i have a MS wheel and while I await fanatec delivering my new wheel I thought I'd have a blast on that.. However, there seems to be a small issue.

When i power on the Xbox, then the wheel (or visa versa) all is fine and the wheel is recognised correctly... Until I then load up and driving game and then...

If I press the accelerator and lift, when I lift the reverse (brake) kicks in? If i lift completly e car auto reverses or brakes.

However, if I restart the wheel and then, instead of accelerating on the grid, I enble the brake, when I lift off the breaks the car revs up nd drives full throttle?

Basically, on first run...

if I press accel,  and lift, the brakes then auto apply for rest of game?

if I press brake, and lift, the accel auto apply for rest of game?

Has anyone ever heard or seen this before?

1. Are you using the original pedal to wheel cable? If not, then that maybe an issue.

2. Do you have the wheel connected at the same time as a controller is plugged in? That can cause issues.

3. Check all cables then Try starting the console with no controller attached using the wheel guide button.

I did use an MS wheel for years (3 in fact :))

Did have similar issues. Tended to be the cable not seated 100% but have also heard of the other issues.

Hope one of these helps.

I think Fitzy uses the MS wheel so he might be along.

Hi,

thsnks for the tips.

1: Yes, but I thought it was the cable so bought a new 4 wire, straight through, rj11 cable (non crossover) same issue with both cables.

2: No

3: Tried that too but still the same issue.

The strange thing is, it's only when I press a pedal, if I sit on the grid and don't touch any pedals all is well, but then as soon as I touch a pedal, the previous description apples?

wheel works fine with remapped accel and brake to buttons.

is there any config utility for testing the wheel on the ms storefront or etc?

its a bizarre fault? Can I just replace my pedals with any other pedals? Or do I just throw it in the bin as I have my fanatec on route?

i have 2 ms wheels (1 fully functional, 1 broken for parts) 2 sets of pedals (1 with this fault and 1 that are broken for parts) have they just passed there use by date and should I just bin em or is this a fixable fault and anyone know of a way around it?

I have'nt had those problems and I am on my second MS wheel, like Poidsly said it could be the cable that connects the pedals to the wheel. I have heard of cases where the cable used is a telephone cable which fits but does not have the right amount of connection wires to use the pedals correctly. Other than that I'm not really sure.

From the sp or MP menu, select "my profile" & then "options". You should find the controller config there. Make sure something hasn't been changed.

If that's not the problem, your wheel may be done for. I've had several MS wheels, so I speak from experience.
