Questions for Thick & Thin Episode 46 with special guest Walshy
This week on the Thick & Thin Vidcast we are having a special guest on the show. None other than former MLG Pro, Dave "Walshy" Walsh. We're gonna be talking about Halo 4, the comp scene and gaming in general. The show starts on Thursday @ 7:30pm EST at www.2old2play.com/live or www.twitch.tv/2old2play.
Please leave a comment below with any questions for Walshy and we will read them out live on the show. Thanks guys.
Cool! My mind is burning rubber right now. Well, something is smelling. Maybe it was a fart?
Walshy. At what age do think a Pro FPS player peaks? I noticed that the very best players from 2old2play tend to be in their mid twenties. We have some excellent players who are over 40, 50 and 60 but it isn't hard to notice skill drops with age.
Walshy. Can you personally still have casual fun playing a game like Halo 4 or is it difficult to drop the ultra competitive playstyle? Is it all or nothing for you? Do you like the odd game of BTB?
Walshy. It's my opinion, Pro FPS games like Halo will never attract viewers outside of the FPS fan base. I believe the arena style Pro action doesn't have enough flash bang to attract outside spectators. I believe only the full sandbox suite a Halo game can offer has a chance to get the maximum number of viewers. I.E. Hogs, Mongeese, Ghosts, Banshees, Scorpions, Mantis and heavy personal ordnance. What do you think?
Walshy. Did you get to play on my STONEHENGE map in Halo 3? How about MEGALITH in REACH? If by some miracle you happened to miss them, you have another great opportunity in my SUBNOVAHENGE in Halo 4. ;)
Do you think Halo 4 is salvageable, or should we just close the book on it and start focusing on Halo 5?
Clearly MLG and 343 have a rift between them right now, is it in the best interest of Halo to move back towards MLG or to fully accept Virgin Gaming and accept that as the new standard/conduit for competitions?
Lead with this one
The podcast is on Thursday this week? Well glad I found out 7 hours before trying to log in tonight...
Yeah, that was close!
what are your two favorite maps and why.
what is the biggest game breaking element of vanilla h4 for a comp league. why?
CannedHeat asks: What games other than H4 do you play? Do you think CoD requires as much skill as halo? more? less?
Are you concerned about the recent allegations that you used PED's and screen peek?
Walshy, what do you think 343 needs to do to make Halo better?
Favorite Halo game and why?
Do you miss one flag and VIP?
What feature do you wish 343i would implement into H4 or H5?
Do you actually shoot in real life, and if not, why ;)
Do you think that Danny McBride would make a good Master Chief in a Halo movie? He could yell "big-ass titties" every time he blew something up.
Cortana spent a lot of time inside Master Chief's suit...what do you think she's doing in there?
Have you ever tea-bagged a Warthog after you blew it up?
Don't you just love the Bolt Shot?
Do you consider yourself a Halo Nerd or a Halo God? You can only pick one.
I'm so asking this question!
Twitch
Would you be a guest in a 2old2play.com H4 tournament?
No noobs allowed unfortunately

Comment?
How do you transition in the gaming world as the talent becomes younger, faster, and with players having more tools at their disposal to develop? Do you feel Final Boss in it's prime could still run today's Halo even with the changes in the game?
How much do you feel Halo online play is effected by host compared to LAN play? Do you feel like there is a justification for all the whining about host and lag? I just need a reason to bitch about my .62 upload speed...it gets me killed at least 17 times a game :)
Liked what I saw of it. :)
Update: Got to see the whole thing on recording. Nice.
Pretty solid interview, guys. Nice work. It makes little sense to me that 343/Microsoft wouldn't be actively reaching out to power users to get them into the mix and to help refine the new trilogy and give it an edge.
I think this interview was done very respectably. Kudos guys and thanks for allowing us to have some input. :)
Thanks so much Deep. It was a very fun experience. Walshy remains one of the main reasons I got into compeditive Halo. He's humble and has a lot to offer the Halo community.
Great interview. I totally agree that just because pro players have comments on how the game should be balanced, maps, etc. doesn't mean that they will provide constructive criticism. I would definitely hire him as a consultant just to see what he has to offer. With how much money they are making, what's to lose? One month can't cost more than $5k-$10k for around 40 hours a week...
Walshy owns a Tribble...
What's the trouble with that?
