Sabbatical
Sabbatical
OK, so one week does not a sabbatical make but it’s a fun word. Furthermore, in four years Parcells hasn’t felt the need to start a new thread only to “announce” I’ll be away golfing for a week but the courses we have lined up this year has me so excited I need to share (rub it in).
Off to Florida on Friday to hook up with 2O4F member OldRustyBelly and his redneck buddy who’ve been racing with us on GT5 for 3 years now. This will be the 4th time we’ve hooked up for a few golf games and I got to say when we first met, there were no surprises; They knew I was an arsehole and I knew they were rednecks we bickered like we knew each other for years – Awesome.
But the primary reason for this communiqué is my younger brother, bless his heart, still scheduled a couple too many rounds (13.5 rounds in 8 days) but he keeps getting super deals on top notch courses and every year getting better and better and this year I think he blew his load as our lineup is out of this world. This is the 6th Annual Thompson Florida Invitational golf tournament…16 – 20 guys any given year, 1 American, 2 from New Brunswick, 3 Frenchies from Montreal the rest from Nova Scotia.
Bla bla bla, check out this line up fellas, read em and weep as they say and see you in a week or so. Average cost per round is about $40.00 cart included.

Those are some nice courses. Where are we playing sunday? And can us rednecks wear cutoffs and flipflops?
We are at Champion Gate on Sunday Sir. Flip flops a definite NO, cutoffs a definitie NO but you could most likely get away with denim shorts???
For those that took my post more literally than you should you should know RustyBelly is not a real redneck, he's just "redneck like" much like Parcells is not a real arsehole I'm only "arsehole like"!
Parcells - Enjoy the Golf coma.
Rusty and I are practically neighbors... but I'm not claiming any of that redneck or "redneck like" stuff. I'm still considered a "yankee" in these parts, even though I've lived here since I was 11.
if you get a chance to play World Woods (Brooksville), it is worth the trip. From Tampa, it's an easy 1.5 hr ride up the Suncoast Parkway. They have a pair of Pete Dye designs (Pine Barrens and Rolling Oaks) that have both been rated in the "Golf Digest top 100 you can play" for years. Another great local course (I played it today and is in great shape) is Fox Hollow (New Port Richey/Trinity), about 30 miles north of Rusty.
@Rusty – Thanks for coming down/up again Rusty always great to see you and Dan and the golf and drinking was awesome as expected. We made it through almost 14 rounds in 8 days and today my body is pretty damn sore but the courses we played throughout the week were beyond spectacular.
On the bright side I continued some of my best golf ever throughout the week and only 4 times did I shoot 45+ over 9 holes. Of course the Nicklaus course at Ginn Reunion was very humbling where I shot 108…OUCH.
Final week tally’s
Brother Alan – 5 wins
Brother Bruce – 3 wins
Brother Brian – 0 wins – he sucked all week long, barely beating Kenny.
70 x 24 flats of beer purchased and consumed.
2 boxes of wine – 24 bottles
Roughly 6 bottles of hard liquor
Above tallies do not include booze purchased on the golf course which was also quite extensive. If anyone is doubting the accuracy of the above numbers you need to understand the majority of us are Canadians and American beer is like making love in a canoe…its fucking close to water!
Until next year!
Sounds like you had a blast. Welcome back
Damn thats a lot of beer!
Awesome work fella
