Second Character

So, I see a bunch of people with these.  I figure that once I max out my weekly marks, I might as well start a second character.  What is the quickest way to level them?  Crucible?  Do the story missions?  I would love some advice.  Im not really a grinder and want to do it as quickly as possible.

Also, if you want to sell me on a hunter of warlock, and why - I'd listen to that too.  I have a titan right now.  I pvp and pve.

I have a 28 warlock, 26 titan which was my secondary and a 21 Hunter.  I did the hunter because I kept getting random drops for a hunter armor even though I didnt have one.

I like the warlock best the 2 different options void walker or sunsinger are not as dramatic offense or defense as titan.  Youve probably played with a voidwalker dropping a big nova bomb on groups very similar to the fists of havoc and would be familar with it.

The sunsinger I came to later and like best espically for strikes.  You have what I think to be the best grenade in the game, and you can pump these things out especially when you unlock the ability to have 2.  Most importantly in strikes and raids you can revive yourself to save the team from darkness consuming you all and restarting.

Havent played the hunter enough even to have full mastery on one side.

I would be interested what the actual stats are on play.  I.e. 40% warlock, 30% titan 30% hunter.  I think having a mix is good and did the warlock initally because my son was a titan.  When playing the VOG we had 4 warlocks and 2 titans and no hunters which I found odd since I have noticed a lot of warlocks and hunters out and about.

DOH got sidetracked.  I went through the story, and ran patrols which helps bank up helium filaments, relic iron, etc to get to level 20.  Then applied the wrong class armor drops and jumped up to 21 or 22 almost immediately.  I saved lower level weapons for each class to use to make it easier.  Once I got to 20 we all share the legendary stuff and I scrapped all the greens and most blues.

I started a new toon over the weekend. I played the story until I could unlock bounties and now I'm working on bouties and doing the story if it fits. A few matches of Crucible mixed in and I'm already at Level 10. I actually have a full set of legendary gear for a Titan that I've acquired through various adventures, so that's the main reason I went that route.

The main grind will be working to level up the subclasses - that's going to take work. I really wanted to have a Defender Titan, but I also wanted a character with Arc damage since Warlocks do not have an Arc subclass (yet). Thus I'm working on Striker first. I'll probably switch to Defender once I get some stuff unlocked in Striker.

Thanks to both of you, that is helpful.

Darth - if you see either of the two exotic helmets come up for sale for the titan (Innermost Light or Saint-14), I recommend buying them both. One is fantastic for pvp and the other is fantastic for pve.  The Saint-14 defender helmet especially because it blinds any enemies that enter your shield.  Unless the lightswitch modifier is on, you are almost unkillable in any pve situation.  With lightswitch on, they can start their melee outside of your shield and still kill you with it before they enter your bubble.  Otherwise, you will destroy any enemy you come across.

As far as class statistics - I read on the database site that the recent breakdown was, in order: 40/40/30 warlock, hunter titan.  That may have changed by now, but I doubt it has changed by much.

Yeah, those Titan helms looked very nice, but I just didn't have to coins to spare. That Saint-14 helm is what really got me interested in the Titan Defender after seeing it in action.

Play story missions and once you get bounties do them all everyday. The eaisest ones at least. My 3rd character is a level 13. anyone around that level with one of their toons let me know. We can level up together and the grind won't be as bad.

I rolled through the story and did bounties. Only took me a few days to level up to 20
