These game devs should all have the top 5-10 players of their games helping with game design... They should also have the top-rated campaign players. Why they took so long to get Strongside is the question...
OldnAchy is a well known Campaign speed runner.
I know of no other way to rate a Campaign expert. I don't think that would be good enough though. The campaign and multiplayer experience are so radically different. How does one rate the quality, quantity and longevity of a campaign experience?
It would help in finding exploits that break the campaign, such as the fact that you can skip almost the entire level of Assault on the Control Room in Halo:CE. That's my favorite level, but watching speed runners is boring because 90% of the level is just a walking simulator because the game doesn't load any enemies after you drop down from the bridge.
Obviously it would also prevent oversights like Halo 4 shipping without a simple level timer or campaign scoring, like they just forgot to add that feature after having it for the last 3 titles (3, ODST, Reach).
How about the shield bump on Keyes? Makes that level, even LASO, real easy to run in less than 15 minutes. I agree that once a glitch or skip is successfully executed, the next few seconds/minutes can be real boring. Most of my campaign exploits are attempts to beat campaign missions on their most brutal settings. Some of the routes, skips, tactics, etc. developed for that lend themselves to speed running. For the typical gamer I would think rating the Legendary campaign (without the skips) as hard but enjoyable to pursue and complete is really the true test of a (Halo) game. If I get a chance this winter, I may try to record full campaign runs in MCC without the skips (except maybe for the H2 jackel snipers -- they are a real pain).
