Things I like about H4..

Well since we have had 127 threads pissing and moaning about things in H4. I decided to make one listing the things I/we/us like about H4.

Here are my observations:

Sound is really freaking good. Weapons sound beefy and seem appropriate for their perceived punch.

Visuals are pretty freaking good. Barbie dress up is pretty cool, look of the maps is great and the effects are pretty great.

Accuracy of Weapons. Thank you Crom. Yes it is hit scan. But I do not seem to have any more of those "I know I put shots in that dude and his head but he gave zero fucks anyway" momments. Much improved over H3 and Reach.

Selection of Weapons. Thank you Crom x 2. Now you realistically have at least 3 different starting weapons to choose from and not still be in the theory of "1 gun to rule them all". Even the crappy guns can be usefull in a secondary roll.

Loadouts I love being able to have multiple loadouts ready to go for, depending on the game type/map. I am not longer stuck having to use an AR on a large map, then trying to run to the nearest middle to long range weapon. Even Slayer pro's loadouts are good and make sense.

Movement. It seems much more responsive then it did in reach and H3. Straffing (sp?) no longer seems to have that hitch in my spartans giddy up.

Campaign/Spartan Ops. They were fun and it did not take a Herculian effort to finish them. I do not mind a challenge, but if any of you have played some of the COD campaigns on Veteran, you know what I am talking about.

Combining successfull things from other games/Halos. How many times have we said/heard. I wish Bungie and X developer had a drunken love child and did X. Well I think they are trying to do that and once the minor tweaks get applied this game is going to just get better and better.

Deep NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN for keeping the faith and helping keep things rolling and letting people spew their opinions (even if it is a voluminous amount of pissing and moaning) and knowing when to shut that crap down at the right point. Also for running great Thursday Night get togethers for the community.; Hi five Deep.

I like that it's a fun game.  I've really been enjoying this title.  Even did some BTB Infinty Slayer with 7 other 2o2p folks and had a blast.  And I was never into BTB before.

Maps:  Really dig Haven and Impact.   Abandon is also pretty damn good.

Gametypes:  I like the new game type, Dominion a lot.  Sort of a cool twist on CoD's Domination.  It's a blast to play.

Holograms can fucking TEABAG!

Last but not least, I love the MANTIS!  Sure it's a bullet sponge, so what.  It's Mech Warrior in Halo!

^5 Deep LB I agree with most of your list. To expand some of my own likes. I love my BR/DMR loadout. The BR is a welcomed old friend from years past returned and when I need a DMR for longer distance it rocks. I really like the responsive feel of this game. My strafe in a fire fight seems to react faster and is more effective in H4 than years past. Stat tracking is much more reflective of a team environment. It is nice to see a 4v4 slayer game reflect 45 assists for 50 kills again. I find Halo 4 to be that complete package I wanted after H2. Thank you 343i for such a great game.

Thank you LB. Sniff.

You mentioned so many things that I like.

Even though several weapons fill similar rolls, you can pick one with the sights and sounds that fit your bill.

Even I can get kills with the DMR. Starting from a Camo AA, of course.

The sounds are incredible. Only drawback is my wife makes me switch the Surround sound down at 11:30-ish. Still sounds better on my TV than any previous Halo.

I like dressing up my Spartan dolly.

8 more weeks of Spartan Ops. Yay! Been playing only on Legenday and will soon start playing the older ones with more skulls and different AA.

I can run away like hell. Clucking all the way.

I've had some weird moments where hits weren't quite registering.  I can take down their shields like nobody's business, but can't land that headshot with some folks.  On LAN, I know its a kill, but over Live, it's a little fuzzier.  That comes with playing online, though, so that's a very mild gripe.

I like how it feels like I can do things again.  I never felt comfortable in Reach.  In Halo 2, 3, and 4, I feel like I can impose my will on the battlefield, and I welcome that feeling again.

The Battle Rifle seems like a lot more of a niche weapon, but I can be okay with it firmly occupying that one niche.  The pistol seems to actually play a very important and underrated role in bridging a little bit of that gap.  Overall, the balancing is done very well, and I'm pleased.

I agree with everything LB said except for the sound.  DMR sounds awesome.  Everything else sounds weak.  The BR and Magnum sound like toys.  In fact, they are so bad, I am wondering if I have a problem with my headphones based on other people's comments.  I have some Astro A40s (a few years old now). The weapon sounds are just weak and toyish.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Otherwise, I love this game.

Some surround sound setups can backfire causing phase cancellation and other dampening issues.

I can't help you but I know it can happen when 5.1 gets merged poorly into stereo.

I noticed that with my Turtle Beaches, but thought it was an isolated problem. I'm goig to try changing the soubd output, maybe that'll do it.

Actually, thinking about that. That is a fair statement. It does sound a little, off. Considering the deep sounds of the dmr or the  metalic ping of the Human sniper. I think they muted the sound due the shorter the barrel length the higher the sound. Kind of how a rifle shot sounds louder/deaper then a pistol shot. (sometimes at least, not in all cases). But yeah I still agree they could of made it a little less "poppy" sounding and more base.

Couldn't be that there is a larger case volume and higher pressures either ;)

The weapons all sound weak to me. the more I play, the more it bugs me.

The hammer sounds like a cheap star wars blaster knockoff.

I like most everything else though.

I love you guys.

The game is fun, even when  I go negative and our team loses.

Ive never enjoyed objective games this much! Throwing the oddball is an AWESOME addition.

I get tons of assists! More than previous games :)

Mostly I love H4 for bringing some of you back to halo. Because I love you guys!

It is a fun game. They changed the halo "formula" but they did better job at it than Bungie did with Reach. I will take getting flayed with an incineration cannon over armor lock any day.

I don't mind getting obliterated by the incineration cannon, I'm always impressed by the power of that weapon. As soon as I hear that awesome sound, I assume its being aimed at me and I'll have a worthy death. Armor Lock on the other hand...worst gameplay element ever.

I agree with everything said...I really do.

But the biggest and most important change H4 brought to the table is it's...

(drumroll)

F.U.N.

I'm back to wanting to get better, watch vids and learning stuff and I love that.

I've always loved Halo but really sucked at mp. Not only is it more fun than any Halo game since H2, I find that I'm slightly better than terrible. I'm almost mediocre! I'll be playing this for quite a while.

All of the above. Love the game, even playing Spartan Ops alone on Legendary (yelled so much at the monitor last night -- no voice this morning LOL).  The only issues I've had (besides the WartHog sounding like a lawmmower15) is that the game was released not fully functional.  There is a decent sized list of things not yet available that surround the game (limited theatre, no web file share yet, minimal party information, etc.) that were there when previous versions of Halo were released.  Suppose 343 made a corporate decision to get the game out now and add and fix stuff on a going forward basis.  Irksome, but something I can live with as long as I am having fun playing the game.

agreed,  though i'm giving 343i the benfit of the doubt and thinking they are rolling things out in phases to make sure that the potential problems are minimized

Finally a thread that doesn't bitch about the game!

I love just about everything in this game.  Campaign, Spartan Ops.

Hey, in MM I'm a full fledged spartan again that can jump off of building and not instantly die!!

No more health packs!

It's nice to have peeps that WANT to play Halo again because it's FUN to play and not a grind which is how Reach felt at the end.

Tha campaign was a lot of fun, the scattershot is a blast (see what I did there?) and we got some new enemies to kill. I like the game.

So you're saying you don't like/dislike anything about the game because you haven't opened it yet.

It's got a pretty cover and I'm liking the anticipation.  cheeky

It seemed like a frivilous excuse for a new thread, and this tread is a bit more generalized (not mode/clan specific).  I don't pay the piss & moan threads too much attention other than maybe a cursory glance over.

Many people hate the sound/music.  I like it for the most part, but I do wish the BR had the bass it used to.  Far too much treble "pew pew pew" in that sound.
