Thursday night replacement for the Escort series.
Thursday night replacement for the Escort series.
I have a couple ideas for a replacement for the Escort series.
1st series.
Multiclass A and B. BMW/M3 series.
Cars: BMW 2002, E30 M3, E36 M3, E46M3.
Other series, multiclass A and B, or A and S. This would be an AI/AIX muscle car series. Cars would include: 93 Mustang Cobra, 95 Mustang Cobra R, IROC Camaro, 98 Camaro, Buick Regal GNX, and possible other domestic V8 muscle cars.
I'm leaning towards the BMW series because obviously those are the cars I like, but also because the reduced number of cars will make building equal cars easier. (The real AI/AIX series includes muscle cars from the original pony cars up to current Mustang/Camaro/Challenger)
Which would you guys like to race in?
Multi class?
Yes. Even if we only have 10 guys that's 5 in each. It was just a thought.
Yea well, I would rather have 10 guys to race against then 5.
Parcells too brnt but since I'm not participating I'm only here to support your cause!
You know, like a jock strap...
I tend to agree with Brnt, more guys in same class, you could always alternate classes, or hold one of each?
Ya might do that.
B class one week, A the next etc, etc.
However it ends up, I'd just like to race so I'm in as well
I think the BMW series sounds fun. It would be cool to give a little more leeway in the build so I think I might do a class PI rating, and car restriction but the build is up to the driver.
Race 1 B500 BMW 2002
Race 2 A600 BMW E46
Race 3 C425 BMW 2002, BMW CSL drivers choice.
Race 4 B500 BMW E30 M3
Race 5 A600 BMW E36 M3
Race 6 M coupe challenge. Z3 or Z4 Coupe A600
Race 7 BMW 1M A600
Something like that.
What ever you wanna do is ok. Not a big fan of multi class for the reason Brnt gave butttt
The thing that is nice about multi class for me is when the faster guys come up on the lower class cars and have to work around them. The problem is that there just isnt enough laps in our races to bring them into play. the only way to do that would be to have a larger difference in the classes and that takes the fun out of it running such a lower class on a meduim to large track.
I hear that argument a lot and it begs the question…what fun is passing (or being passed by) a car that you’re not the least bit competitive with?
This is the most lucid thing I've ever heard Parcells utter...right on point.
Of course, on second thought, it doesn't really sound like Parcells...
I would argue the lower the class the greater the separation based on skill. The better someone is at carrying momentum, and at being smooth and not making mistakes, the better the lower the class.
Every mistake is absolutely critical in an F class car where you don't have any power to compensate.
Excellent points!!!
This is true.
While the lower classes are about maintaining momentum, in the higher classes mistakes create much wider gaps in much less time. You'll see it on track nights. In F the field is all relatively close together, where by the time you hit R3 you can have a gap of 1000's of ft in one lap.
I like the PI rating and specific car as governing factors. This makes it easier for slower guys (like me) to build a tighter, grippier car. Evern though that may not make us faster, it allows us to drive more consistently, getting real race practice hitting our spots.
yes good points but fast drivers vs. slow drivers has NOTHING to do with debating the merits of multi class racing which is what Parcells was up to.
Well, give 'em all 16 F class Rabbits and the top 8 get to run top class, bottom eight the lower? I don't get what we're talking about at this point?
I'd prefer 15 chances to not be last than 5...
I'm down for whatever...
