War Games with 202p videos
Wanted to share this vid with ya'll. Lou Keymia, wamam87 and Beau Dog were with me and a couple friends, WCF Cypher and RandomBlackMan, in this one. Cypher and I saw the same thing, but Lou doesn't kill it because it's acting infected: he saw a normal Mantis on his screen.

Finally a use for the mech - Dance Party!
Kk, back with another crazy situation full of 202p-ers again. This time I was with Kenjamin1 MI and Wamam87, and we'd sent an invite out to Nomaly 117 and Run5K but they didn't come so we set out into Infinity Slayer with three. Now, as you know, Infinity Slayer is a 4v4 playlist, and the game starts to load with 4v4 but one dude from each team drops out. So Halo 4 graciously decides to fill the empty slots with Run and Nomaly, who've since joined our queue. Only thing is... the game puts them both on the same team...

LOL!! I have never seen that happen before as well. Too bad H4 doesn't have proximity chat. I can't imagine what the other team was saying.
I wonder if they even noticed? I don't know, but I sent a message on LIVE to the guy letting him know about the vid. Also, I try to put people's gamertags in the video tag cloud (whenever I have the time and remember to), so maybe sometimes people can find themselves by searching their gamertags?
Funny! 5 on 3 surprise. The other team was 1 player and 2 guests, so split-screen was no help in their living room that game.
I had a 5-3 Slayer game a month after the game was released. So many teabags..
that was so funny!
Also I wish you were looking back the other direction at 4:40 mark of the video. You would have seen a sweet rocket suicide by me that almost took out you and at least one other teammate. lol
Yeah! It would be so awesome if they could design a way for people to capture their gameplay and have their teammates' gameplay show up too, like in separate windows automatically? I would love that. I don't think hours of my gameplay are all that exciting, it's the gaming with friends and good times that I love to capture ^^
Flying camera maybe?
That sounds great in theory, but then when you go and try it you wind up with a ton of footage where nothing is going on. It takes an insane amount of time to find a bunch of "events" in a game, record them all and edit them together in a way that works. I've even gotten some footage by flying around during a battle up in the air, and then when I see an explosion somewhere going to it and backtracking the film to capture what happened, finding events that way. Still, a TON of time. And energy, don't forget the energy, lol. I just haven't had a lot of either for months, so that's why the first-person captures.
Lots of people enjoy the videos others without much knowledge of the time it takes to create them. In Halo 3, I made a lot of 5-15 second videos. It took considerable time to plan the shot before execution.
This one on Reach took more than an hour of dinking around.

While very short, finding the best way to convey the action was tricky.

This took much planning and practice to say nothing about the editing.

also with this one.

Exactly! I don't usually keep track of the time it takes to do my funtages and trailers, but one of them I remember I quit counting after it went over 40 hours (probably the Reclaimer Map Pack Trailer, which is cheating because I also worked on the music, overlays, etc).
Nice clips, btw, I wonder why when I click on them they take me to YouTube instead of playing in the iframe? That one kinda makes me miss Reach, lol. And I have one on Standoff where I'm on a mongoose that rides off the cliff and along the edge for like 100 ft, then I pop back up on the map. Thought I was a goner! And another where the 'hog is hanging off the cliff and I pop out the driver side and somehow land on the map (I might even bounce up off the hood of the 'hog, lol). I still remember the actual moments when those happened, and the amazement I felt when I didn't die! So. Much. Fun. And so awesome we can catch those moments to share.
Definite good point. One would need the Wamam type of input before rendering the film using theater (which isn't easy) to grab clips with the flying camera, then append them all together back into one film. That would definitely take some work even with the other player input before hand.
Campaign mission films are so much easier to render.
Wamam input?
Wamam87 pointed out his rocket suicide a few posts back. That is what I meant. If someone you are playing with has a "moment" and points it out. But then again that person could also go into theater and create the clip him/herself and ask for help uploading a video of it.
Oh, yeah! Now I'm back on track.
It's really strange: trying to get people to submit clips is like trying to pull teeth. I've even tried just telling people to send me the whole film with a message that says about where the event happened and what it was and I couldn't get people to do that. I've usually wound up resorting to pulling my own clips from peoples' films for funtages, etc. Well, mostly.
If you ever get bored, check out the Halopalooza vids on YouTube. Those were done using a ton of fly-through clips that Gravhammerman took (a master clip-man if I ever saw one) and my editing skills. All those participants being of the, ahem, "mature", variety, like ourselves, lol (ie: no Timmies). And Kenjamin got a ton of great flythrough footage for his "Race is Coming to War Games" trailer. There was a stick-tage I did where a lot of people submitted clips. Even then, I'll usually go in and re-film them, from "a more artistic angle" or whatever, to add interest and variety to five minutes of video.
Yeah, a lot goes into making a decent one, that's for sure, and even then the payoff isn't a whole lot of views or likes, but it's the journey and watching friends that makes it worth it!
I don't think I saved that game, but I can look tonight.
I do have some stuff for you though that I've been saving. I just need some time to go through it all.
I think I uploaded one or two to my file share already but forget to tell you about it every time we play...
Oh man, I don't know if you're talking to me, but not only do I not have a computer that can edit atm, I'm buried. Not sure when I'll have time to work on vids.
Wam, if you have something that needs to be capped, then create the clips in theater, upload them to file share, and let me know what they are. I can at least cap them for you.
A little off topic but: Wam, I have to ask.... what's up with the "no squid" avatar? O.o
hahahaha! It was just a little fued between Lala Calmarie and I from about a year ago. To be honest, I don't even remember what it was about. It was a friendly fued though, just for shits and giggles.
I think it may have had something to do with the site points and being top members.
Trying to get back into using the cap card and editing (my new computer is set up, but life keeps getting in the way ;p) and I cap'd a few of the games at DEEP's last Thurs Night Customs, so I picked one to upload to YouTube. I remembered this one being close, and I had some fun in the Banshee, so it should be entertaining. Haven't watched the whole thing yet. There's a list below of who all was there.
(video was still uploading at time of post, should be a little bit longer for any night owls)

Not available. Whaaaa!
Ok, think I got it sorted, sorry about that. New software is buggy I guess, had to convert it twice before uploading it :/ Vid is fixed in above post.
Great vid. I used to worry about KKRUL getting the Banshee. I see I should also worry about you. ;)
Good old Vaht Vokuree. He knows something about everything. Taping stuff to hair included.
I love banshee splaters...
