Anyone near a Sony store with a PS4 demo unit?
Would be interested in impressions if anyone is near a Sony store that has a PS4 demo kiosk. I think they are rolling out to other places like Best Buy, Gamestop, etc. soon too but supposedly Sony stores are the first to get them.
I'm not driving to Orlando to try ps4. I'll wait for the local Target/BB/Walmart to setup a display.
A good friend of mine, who also happens to be the manager of the Game Stop I do business with, recently came back from the huse EB Games Conference, where they were able to get to actually play with the PS4 and XBOX 1, so I'm going to share his honest input:
1) The PS4 controller is actually a little bit bigger than the XBOX 1's, which everyone seamed to love; especially the changes to the triggers
2) Some games looked quite similar in nature, but for instance AC4 looked looked a tad bit crisper for the PS4 than on XBOX 1, even though that consoles version looked fantastic.
3) There's a reason why Drive Club was delayed, because most people thought it was okay, but definitely not GT or Forza killer, my friend found it very generic.
4) The playstation app that comes included on the HDD of the PS4, that utilizes the new camera, does give you the gamer a clear indication of the possibilities with the DS4, such as the feeling of weight being distributed with the controller itself (tossing the silly robots around that are supposedly inside the contoller), that was also the only program that demonstrated the audio features of the minature speaker that resides inside the Dual Shock 4, no game that he played had any volume coming out of the controller.
5) The Eject & Reset buttons are directing in front of the console, besides the disc drive (right down the center), they are exactly the same size as the glowing blight light bar on top of the console, but you just need to tap them, you don't need to apply a lot of force at all, so pretty much the same senstivity as the PS3.
6) The DS4's handles feel like they have a rubberized grip to them, and won't slip in your hands, and my buddy John felt the thumb sticks are very responsive; he felt that the game that really proved the new controller is fantastic is Killzone: ShadowFall, said he would have loved the new controller to have played KZ3 or a lot of other games for that matter.
7) The touch pad is actually used like additional buttons in order to power on the console, etc, just like the PS3.
Awesome thanks for the feedback. Just reaffirms I made the right choice to get PS4 first! Logged way more hours on PS3 than 360 this gen anyway, thanks to Naughty Dog! Three Uncharted plats with plans on platinum on TLoU.
