GTAV Heist prep mission: Cargobob
How have people been going about getting the cargo chopper from the military base? The few youtube videos I've found for it show just bursting into the place, guns blazing, making a straight b-line for the chopper and flying out under gunfire, then outflying the other chopper.
There's got to be a better way, no? I've done the flying lessons with Michael, so the parachuting thing is in my head, if I could parachute into the base undetected, plant a sticky on the other heli, somehow get into the cargobob... The parachute isn't available to me yet, though, and I don't even know how to get Michael to come along to get the heli.
Just looking or some spitballing ideas here, I guess.
I went straight through the front gates. I had to kill about 6-8 guys right at the entrance, but then I was pretty much clear to make a bee-line to the left towards the parking lot filled with trucks. There was one guy to kill there. Then I drove one of the trucks straight to the chopper, got out, enabled Trevor's special ability, and got in the chopper. Wasn't hard at all to outrun the guys chasing me and got away. Took me two tries because there are guys around the chopper that are firing at ya like crazy, but if you park the truck so you get out and right into the chopper, and use Trevor's ability, shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Walk in, shoot people in face, fly out. Easy peasy.
Enemies, especially later have body armor. Go for the headshots to ensure they stay down. Also, go into the options menu and change the reticle to the other option if you have trouble finding it. Personally, I find that the snap to aim feature (giving the right thumbstick a flip when you're aiming to switch targets) is a little wonky and doesn't take some forms of cover into the equation.
I took a B-Line straight for the chopper. Shot a few guards along the way and took off. The main thing is shooting guards along the way. If you don't, they will kill you in no time.

Ran in and snatched that bitch... it's getting away from the attack chopper that sucked balls.
I was surprised that there wasn't more cavalry ready to fuck me up. I was thinking 4 stars = HOLY SHIT IM DEAD ! Fun mission though.
I got caught out in the water with a 4* from going someplace i wasn't suppose to. Not sure exactly where I ended up, around one of the docs and i noticed some soldiers up there so naturally thought i'd go check it out. Instant 4* and I tried to outrun them on the water but with all the choppers and boats spaced out it just went on and on and on. I just dashboarded and re-loaded, wasn't going to take the $5,000 death penalty since it was clearly a stalemate. Got a bit irritated though at the wasted time spent and it not being marked on the map as a restricted area and no other warnings. I could have easily not spotted the soldier waundering around up on the doc. Soem stuff like that kind of irritates me with GTA5.
Dude. Its $5000 in a GTA game. That's nothing.
I drove through the gate in a pickup, and went straight for the chopper, driving over the soldier closest to it. Jumped in and flew away...I completed the mission in 3:02 on my first try. Something big was shooting at me but I never even fired a shot...and I think I saw a tank.
My experience was very similar to Jones'. I was on the backside of the base, by the rear gate. I pulled out my sniper to scope out the area. Some jerk at the gate saw me and sounded the alarm. I jumped in my car, drove through the gate/gaurd and headed for the heli. Drove over one more guard by the heli and then hopped in. Took off without even being shot at by the attack heli.
First attempt, total mission time was 3:39
The key is to get in and get out before the tanks start rolling in. If you can lift off before then, the only real threat is the attack chopper after that if that spawned but you can loose them flying low going over the mountains to break line of site.
Crashed through the front gates in a semi. Ran over guards that were shooting at me on the way to the chopper. Crashed over the barricades and hopped in the chopper. Took off and left the scene hot & low along the river channel outrunning the attack chopper. Not pretty, not glamorous...but got the job done.
