Jagermech a home run.

So far i have purchased 2 chassis, and have found the answer to my boredom. The Trenchbucket was a fun toy but the Jager is a homerun for me. I have been playing  around with some builds however I know that there are a few among us with no equal in mech design. So I am looking for some awesome weapon configurations.

Anyone given this any thought?

I have a few ideas :)

All my builds have armor near max (to the nearest round number) or with a half ton or so less on the legs. ETA: all have Endo-Steel as well.

I started with the JM6-A:

4xSRM6
2xLL
XL300
16 (i think) DHS

was putting out splatcat-like damage. broke 1000 damage in one game (pre-patch, of course).

next I tried:
4xSRM6
2xML
Std300
same DHS

found the XL too squishy, tried this, many matchsticks and the occasional situation where it's worth taking the STD.

next:
2xAC2
4xSSRM2
Std300
not sure of HS

I saw someone rocking AC2s and SRM6s, and that inspired this: i didn't want to switch back to the XL so my first thought was the very light SSRMs. can put damage downrange unlike the first couple of builds I tried. had a couple of nice games in it.

what I settled on (today, at least):
2xAC2
4xSRM4
Std280
12 DHS

Nice middle ground between the awesome splatting of the 4xSRM6s and the downrange damage of the AC2 builds. Having success. The top three go 74 and this one goes 69, so it's not too bad a drop for the smaller engine. I switched back to design one for the tournament but I think I'll just go back to the AC2s and SRM4s since having a high-damage round doesn't matter to scoring.

Now I'm onto the JM6-S:

2xAC20
XL255

I can't afford DHS yet, almost there, but when I do I'll edit this post... just deciding whether I pack backup MLs in this thing or extra ammo (right now it has 6 tons, that should be enough). I dropped in one game with it in its current config accidentally and did tons of damage but was basically overheating every second shot. If it still runs too hot dual gauss would be an easy optio that's much cooler and would allow for backup lasers.

ETA: okay, here's what I'm doing with the -S now:
2xAC20 (6 tons ammo)
4xSL
XL255

I'm CRUSHING with the AC20s. They're ridiculous.

I was thinking about my JM6-DD builds too, trying to think of something that would take advantage of the 3 ballistic slots in each arm. I had a couple of thoughts, one hilarious:

6xMG
2xERPPC

and one that might actually work:
3xAC2
Gauss rifle

Until I get the chassis though those are just speculation. The 6xAC2 doesn't work imho... too many tradeoffs and too hot. Maybe you can make a 5xAC2 build work though?

Home run, I agree! Awesome little mech!

The basics work well. 2 AC/20 + 2 Mlas, 2 gauss + 4 Mlas. The 2 ERPPC + 6 Mgun was underwhelming for me. But I made a few fun ones.

Double D

I've tried 6, 5, and 4 AC/2 builds. I found the 5 AC/2 build the most enjoyable. Had an XL 225, endo, DHS, 10 tons of ammo ( I still ran out once), but not many heatsinks. It's decent at any range, and can put out over 100 damage before worrying too much about heat. The big problem is maintaining aim for 100 damage (5 seconds) without hitting everywhere on the target. 6 AC/2s was also fun but overheated faster and only carried 5 tons of ammo.

Also ran 4 UAC/5s, again with an XL 225 and endo. The problem was I could only carry 5 tons of ammo (125 rounds). But it was really, really fun, and could drop an assault mech in seconds if the guns didn't all jam. It also looked great, each arm looked like it had 2 massive chainguns on it. Downsides: Ammo, and once the enemy sees 4 UAC/5s going you get a lot of attention.

Now I just run an XL 280, 2 AC/20 w/ 6 tons ammo, and 2 Mlas.

Jager A

Before the nerf I joined in the LRM-fest, mounting 4 LRM 15 w/artemis, tag, and 6 tons of ammo. You could also 2 LRM 15 w/art, 2 LRM 10 w/art, TAG, 1 Med Pulse, and 8 tons ammo. Endo and DHS as well.

For brawling I like an XL 260, Endo, DHS, 2 UAC/5s w/ 6 tons ammo, 2 SRM 6, 2 SRM 4, 3 tons SRM ammo. All arm mounted so that's a plus, the UAC5/s are as mean as ever, but instead of a couple Mlas for backup you have 20 SRM tubes. XL makes it squishy, but I grin when I dump 50+ damage into a mech in only a couple seconds.

Jager S

So far I'm just running 2 gauss w/4 tons ammo and 4 Mlas. XL 255, endo, DHS included. I'm sure I'll tinker more later.

What I settled on for the S. Loads of fun until you jam.

Anyway here is my JM6-A. It's basicly a huge shotgun.

I like that 6-A. Reminds me of my 2AC2s, 4SRM4s a little.

I finally settled on my DD: 5xAC2s. 3 on one arm linked, 2 on the other chained (the reason I don't chain the three is that doing so actually reduces your fire rate: the way that chaining works is that the cooldown for the 1st AC2 is done by the time it gets to the 3rd). Much dakka. I took it out with JP and grlpwr the other day and slaughtered a bunch of dudes.

If interested, my JM6-A shotgun in action. Six assists, one kill a job well done for a PUG game.

Okay, so check this out. I've told you guys about my 5xAC2 JM6-DD... As I mentioned, I'd been grouping 3 AC2s in one group, and two in the other; firing the three in sync and chaining the two for a dakka simulation. I finally caved in and set up an AutoHotKey script to chain the little bastards more effectively. So the theory is that the AC2 has a cooldown of 0.5 s, ie 500 ms... every 0.5 s the thing can fire again. If we fire one, and then another 100 ms later, and so on, by the time we're back to the first the cooldown is done (5 x 0.100 s = 0.500 s). One AC2 shot every 0.1 s = much dakka. Stick this script in your AutoHotKey:

#InstallMouseHook
#InstallKeyBDHook

MButton::
While GetKeyState("MButton","P")
{
If GetKeyState("MButton","P")
{
send {1 down}
sleep 102
send {1 up}
}
If GetKeyState("MButton","P")
{
send {2 down}
sleep 102
send {2 up}
}
If GetKeyState("MButton","P")
{
send {3 down}
sleep 102
send {3 up}
}
If GetKeyState("MButton","P")
{
send {4 down}
sleep 102
send {4 up}
}
If GetKeyState("MButton","P")
{
send {5 down}
sleep 102
send {5 up}
}
}

...set each of your 5 AC2s to weapon groups 1 through 5, and wet your pants when you are sending out a stream of AC2 rounds whenever your middle mouse button is pressed. Funtimes. It's simple to adjust the script if your DD is a 4x or 6xAC2 build as well... if you add an AC2, add an If for group 6 and change the time to 85 for each of the sleeps, and if you have one less AC2, remove one of the Ifs and set the times to 127 or 128.

Well, this option is free and doesn't require any special equipment... and it was actually pretty simple, I googled a script and modified it to work the way I wanted, took all of 5 mins!

could also go the divine way.

put ac 1 on group 2

put ac 2 on group 3

put ac 3 on group 4

put ac 4 on group 5

put ac 5 on group 6

roll fingers accross keyboard and hold mouse button 1 which has all of them in one group

I also have a perfect timed script if you want it later ferret. I believe its .050 down and .075 and it gives you perfect machien gun fire rotated so that by the time the 5th fires the first is ready to go :)

Yeah, the timing in the script I'm using is the same as that... the "sleep 102" means sleep for 0.102 s, where yours is .100 + 0.025, ie 0.1025 s... pretty close :)
