I read the wiki after your post. The last dlc was in 2010, seems like they could have been working on a new game. Good indicator there won't be another in the series.
I don't think we've seen the last of L4D. Might be a while to the next one, but I think Valve will come back to it. It's a very popular game.
Anyway, a whole bunch of different Zombie games are now coming out.
Apparently a coop and MMO zombie game for 360, that side scroller on XBLA, I am Alive out this Wed, surely more Dead Island, Resident Evils, and there's got to be more. Isn't there talk of a Walking Dead game too?
Part of it may be the outcry from releasing 1 and 2 so close together. They may be taking more time than normal now before releasing another game in the series.
