LFA V2.0 in SF now

So I was futzing around on the game today and got a wild hair to build an LFA to S700 just to see if it could be any good. After some preliminary testing at Hockenhiem and Nordschlife (1:46.2XX and 7:46.5XX respectivly) I feel like I have a car that can be driven hard to some decent lap times, not record breaking or anything like that but fast all the same. So what I'm asking for is to have you, the 2O4F community, give this car a hard thrashing and tell me what you like about it and don't like about it. What you would like to change and so forth. Please be honest and sincere, be brutal, I can take it. I'm doing this in the interest of improving my skills as a tuner/builder that I might be able to offer more to you my community.

Now I know that a skilled driver can make an OK tune appear to be fast, I have been led to understand that I am considered to be a skilled driver so I would like to see drivers of all skill levels give this car a go. And to maintain objectivity I would ask that the tune be  DL'd from my SF, so that we all have the same tune. With your feedback I hope to be able to improve the car and my tuning skills. It's kinda like a race team, you are the driver and I will be the engineer. Tell me what the car is doing and I will try my best to make it better. You can run the car on any track you feel comfortable with, but I would suggest med. to long tracks.

And with that being said I say CRY HAVOC AND LET SLIP THE DOGS OF WAR!!! Have at it my brothers!

Huey

Managed a PB at Hockenheim after just a few laps, so for me the tune is great. I have no real idea how to give you constructive/relevant feedback so should probably leave that to the more knowledgeable. However, in the interests of being helpful personal observations, from a controller users perspective, which may or may not be what you want are: could be a bit sharper/more pointy when turning in, feels like it wants to understeer entering a corner at times and if you can get it to maintain traction when hitting the powerband when accelerating out of a corner that would be great!

Can't wait to have another try with the improved version......

Excellent feedback Simon, thank you and well done on the PB. By the way, what was your time?

I'll play with the rebound a bit this weekend, try to sharpen up the turn in.

Also, I tune with a wheel. My lowly Madcatz MC2. No FFB or rumble. Good to hear it works with a controller as well.

Managed a best of 1:44.9 after two five lap runs which was good for top 800.

I had a go at racing TrackAssassin's ghost (I find myself doing this quite frequently!) which is a 1.44.7 and the main place I lost all the time (wink) was in the last three right-handers at the end of the lap. BTW, Assassin's lap was set in an NXSR-GT which says a lot about how quick your LFA is already!

I've been able to get into low 44s also but not cleanly. The difference between the wheel and controller is keeping me from getting the car to do what I want but overall its a great build. Should be good in public lobbies also. Personally id like more bump and rebound and less decel in the diff but that won't feel good to everyone. Usually when I convert a wheel tune to a controller tune I use more negative camber and caster. Somewhere between six and six and a half degrees for caster and usually -1.2 and -0.9 for front and rear camber respectively.

Wow, I'm no tuner, and not the greatest driver, but I usually start at 5.7 or so and -1.0 to -1.1 and -.6 or -.7.

Does the increased rear camber increase turn in sensitivity or grip in the turn?

That'd translate to a bit higher number on the rear rebound or less on the front :)

I wouldn't know what would be best to do for traction out of a corner, it entirely depends on your tune :)

I'll drive it with you raddo, so we can chat an tune :D

Tried it out at Hockenheim. I am on the controller as well. I was able to put the power down nicely when I wasn't too aggressive so I think I can adjust to that no problem. I also feel like I could use a little more turn in though. Probably a controller thing. I also figured out to stay out of 2nd gear until the revs were down. Very nice tune though. My time wasn't impressive, a dirty 1:48.7xx but that was after just 8 laps or so. I know I can find more time. Not bad for a mid to lower pack guy. Lol Thanks Raddo. I'll run again later tonight.. I'm off for a quick nap.

The caster setting I use is almost always directly related to the front camber angle and how much load my tune/build is putting on the front tires. I set the camber to have even tire temps at the apex of the corner with the highest load on the track. Since the controller doesn't have the turn radius a wheel does I'm almost always at the max turn radius in tight sections which brings the temps up so I compensate with tire pressure and caster. Your camber is only .2 away from what I set mine to. Edit: to answer your question about the rear camber I say yes and no. Having that high a number will change how the car behaves but its not a very large increase. Typically it will feel a bit more loose but not uncontrollable (to me) I usually set it that way to get even tire temps when cornering.

Radio, just tried the updated version, managed to improve my time at Hockemheim by just under a 10th of a second so either your "fiddlin'" has paid off or I'm getting quicker with practice , maybe both smiley
