Mail Day 7/8/13

I didn't get to go by the comic shop last Wednesday because we were packing for a long weekend trip. I had did get a package in the mail today from Midtown Comics. I had ordered a few comics that my small town, crappy store doesn't carry and a couple that I had quit picking up.

Ten Grand #1-3

Read the first two already and I like what I am reading so far. Not sure if it is my cup of tea but I am going to see where it goes.

Five Ghosts #2-4

I had picked up #1 and never read it. Decided to get caught up and pick up the others. Haven't read them yet.

The Wake #2

Loved the first one. My crappy shop didn't get there order for #2 so ordered this one. Loving this series so far.

Captain America #6-8

I had decided to drop this series but something made me order the back issues. I will let you know if I made a mistake or not.

Can't wait for Wednesday to get here. Going to drive to a nearby town with a little better shop and get last weeks and this weeks.

Yeah, I'm really enjoying Ten Grand so far, but the art style is kinda odd for me.

You'll definitely have to let me know how 5 Ghosts is, I thought about getting it, but hesitated..

Loving The Wake

I used to get Captain America, but they were really dragging things out, and really just all over the place honestly. I also just don't care for the whole Dimension X or Z or whatever it is, and stopped after issue 4 or 5. But I love Captian America and I might try picking it back up again when the next arc starts.

I like Five Ghosts. Pretty good story and while the art didn't really grab me at first, I'm digging it now. Sort of has an old school noir feel to it.  Captain America, I liked. I am like you and will be glad when this whole Dimension Z is over but I am glad I went back and read it.  Another one I just read was Helheim, check it out. East of West I also got caught up on but I am undecided about it. I feel a little lost in it.

Yeah, I'm liking East of West, but it does have that feeling of lostness(I know lostness isn't a word) to it I think. I haven't read my issue 4 yet, I've been sick this week, so I haven't been able to go pick up my comic order from the shop Wed, so I'll prolly just add it into next week's total. I'm guessing it's one of those comics that has a ton of stuff going on, and you don't figure it out most stuff until later. Which is ok, but I hate digging out old issues to re-read them. I'm getting ready to have to add a a new 200 count box to my recent stack.(I move older boxes to storage and replace them so I can keep track of newer stuff) So digging out older boxes really can be a pain in the ass, and require cross town trips lol.

Jupiter's Legacy has seemed pretty interesting, but it's only 2 issues in, so I'll have to wait and see on it. Superior Carnage comes out next week, I'm a huge fan of him, despite most disliking him lol. So I can't wait for that! I checked out that series Morning Glories, it gets a lot of praise, and it wasn't bad, but it's complicated to read. There's multiple timelines it switches back and forth to, and has mysteries every few pages, it was hard to tell just what the hell was going on, and who the people were. I had to re-read the 6 issues I bought like 10 times before it finally made sense, but there was still probably like 50 mysteries they didn't answer. I guess though that's what they're going for according to the writer, it's one of those complex, multiple timeline, people going back and altering thier own lives as different personas, affecting an alternate future, it was just to much to keep track of. It's so complicated the writer has to explain each issue in the back with both words and pictures lol.

I remember the end of the last issue I read, they revealed this woman you've seen for so many issues was actually the older version of the younger girl in that issue, going by a different name, and  hanging out and guiding her younger self, and then had scenes with her future alternate self, referencing and explaining stuff that happened 20 issues before, like seriously that was a year ago lol. So.. it was heavy, and neat, but it was just was too heavy for me, like Back to the Future on Meth and Steroids at the same time. I like mind benders and puzzles, it's common place in comics, but this was a little much for me. The issues were really big though, and you get your money worth.
