Im actually pretty excited about this. Was a huge fan of Superman growing up. Fan of the Chris Reeves movies as well. I like Superman Returns a little bit...but it could have been sooo much better.

Im hoping this one will be more similar to the Nolan Dark Knight trilogy than the Reeves movies though.

There are two versions of this teaser trailer online, one has Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent doing the voice over, and the other has Russell Crowe as Jor-El doing the other voice over; also the comic con footage that was shown can be found online as well, but it's grainey at best; however what I saw looked fantastic, this take on Superman seams to be grounded like Nolan's Batman.

Meaning you have a young man trying to find himself in the world, not really wanting to expose himself on the amazing things he's capable of, afraid of how the world will react, and definitely saw a scene where the military is aiming their weapons at Superman not knowing if he's good or evil, there was some fight scenes shown, the only one that I could see clearly was Superman being tossed into a building, I wish Warner Bros would release this to the public just like Jon Favreau decided to have the studios do with the Comic Con footage he showed off, because I think we're going to get a much grittier Superman than we are accustomed to seeing on the big screen.

Its about time Superman gets a real treatment in the movies.

And then who knows, a decent superman game might manifest into existence122

So...it's dropping tomorrow night. Getting a lot of good reviews. IGN gave it a 9 outta 10.

I'm pretty stoked. Been wanting a good Superman movie for a while now.

Whose going to see it?

It's a stroke of genius to use Zod in the movie. It gets tiring to always watch a Superman movie plot always involving kryptonite.

I don't know why they always use that set piece, I mean Supes has so many awesome enemies. I guess though until recently they didn't really have the tech to use them or at least correctly. I mean Darkseid, Brainiac, Bizarro Supes, Doomsday, Livewire, Lobo, Mongul, Toyman, even Metallo(though he uses Kryptonite, but at least it's powering him, not just a human holding up a rock)

In the end though it's DC's fault for making him just so damn powerful. They could also use Superboy and Supergirl, b/c often they don't get along with each other so.. There's others like Grundy too, but I'm not sure he's movie worthy like the list above. It's why I also don't think a Justice League movie could work. It's hard enough to find enemies tough enough for Supes to fight in a movie let alone the original 6 members combined. I mean imagine having Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, Flash, and Wonder Woman. The only possible enemies really would be Darkseid, Brianiac, and Mongul with his War World.

Yeah, I think it might be mine to.  Can't think of another movie that really captured the sense of power that Supes had here and to actually have him fight an enemy that posed a threat to him as well as the world was just great.

Just saw it tonight, loved it.  I'd given a cursory glance at a spoiler-free review that had complained about the "lack of humanity" in the movie ...  which, from my point of view was crap.

I found the movie to be not just a great comic book / superhero flick, but also well thought-out story, in the sense that there was character development, that the characters were internally consistant, and that it never broke my willing suspension of disbelief.

Russell Crowe and Kevin Costner as the two fathers ... amazingly well done.  There may have been a few specks of dust in my eye a few times.

From what I'm seeing online, the only people who didn't enjoy this movie are Superman purists.  Guys who grew up on Superman and think he should be the same big boyscout that he was 50 years ago.  I love the Chris Reeves movies and that  version of Superman but let's be honest, times have changed.  It's a shame but I don't think audiences today could relate to that character.  That's a depressing notion but, I think, an accurate one.

Saw this today in IMAX 3D and it was absolutely incredible. Drama, action, and everything you could hope for in a good movie. Loved every second...fucking brilliant movie.

Saw it yesterday, 3D almost imax quality, but the "shaky" camera style of filming really doesn't fit into 3D movie viewing. Damn thing really fucks up your eyes and your head.

The movie was good but not great.

One thing that annoyed me is that they didn't get into a detail explanation of the Codex, which plain an simple was a skull fragment used for genetic material for the artificial creation of new Kryptonians. Was it form the first Kryptonian men? Or just great Kryptonian who once lived?

Zod wasn't vengeful in this remake, they made him into a Patriotic military type almost in a mocking way. Sort of saying that being too patriotic is simply blinding and extreme. Also the Of course the Eco friendly message is always written into a Hollywood movie, of how Krypton destroyed itself exploiting its natural resources.

I thought this movie was going to be different about not exploiting Superman's weakness, Kryptonite, that greenish rock that always made its way into every single Superman plot. But the writers found a way to get in their but this time changing into Krypton's Atmosphere. Like if its the only way Superman is ever vulnerable. In my opinion Superman's vulnerability comes from his decisions, from the fact that he never chose to be a super hero, he was born one. The father son relation exploited this perfectly, how Kent wanted to hit a young bully yet he showed restraint because of who he was and what he was destined to be.

The Louise Lain character is a breath of fresh air compared to the annoying stereotypical 1930's female newspaper reporter, like they made Kate Bosworth in the previous remake. They made her into the reflection of Jennifer Jason Leigh in the Hudsucker Proxy.

Also something that bothered me is that they made Superman more to be an Alien, than this mystical "human" sent from space to save mankind. The spaceships, and the are we alone questions seemed to much like Encounters of the Third Kind. Also no more Crystal/ Ice Palace, instead a Spaceship, this kind of killed Superman's mysticism I grew up to love.

Best parts of the movies, I think have to be the opening scene in Krypton and the small town showdown were both incredible. As for the ending I could care less.

Just announced at Comic-Con that the Man of Steel will feature Batman as well! There's no decision on who will play Batman yet, but it was an epic announcement.
