Mech Warrior Tactics beta

Anyone in it or even heard of it? it looks like a turn based version of mech commander which i used to love as a kid. Seems to be browser based so to me that just means something to mess with while at work :)

Seems to be in closed beta right now link below

Yeah I've seen it, I was never really inthralled with the TT, though I loved painting the figures. I wonder if the mech list for tactics is also being used for MW:O. If so we're getting the Clint, Panther, Orion, and Grasshopper.

I, on the other hand, was obsessed with TT :) If anyone stubles on some keys, you know where you can go to get rid of them :)

I never played the table top stuff. Mech commander was a build your mechs you can drop 100 tons and have a map to run through and kill shit. Load 1 100 ton mech or 3 smaller and go through objectives kinda like warcraft 1 and 2 did on certain maps.

This though does seem bit more table top. I haven't really read anything yet other then the quick video on youtube

Am I seeing that wrong or is that a PC / Card based watered down version of the TT??

Well if would allow for a close to TT expirence (Minus the pizza and hot wings of course) with peeps that can't make it to my house on Saturdays I might get into it. You get into Beta Kurupt? I was thinking about dropping cash for the lowest founder to check it out.

it seems to be double blind blah blah and pretty much follows the table top. You perform your attacks then move your mechs. Once you hit play there is a cinima that plays out the fight.

Apperently at the end you will be able to save it and be able to watch a fight straight from the biggining to end in movie form. This link has game play and information.

Cyn I didn't know you could buy into the beta. Though its supposed to be in open beta soon, currently seems to be closed beta still. Where did you find the purchase info  stuff?

Tanks for the link!! Looks like it is worth investigating. I have some OT coming up I think I will spot the $20 for the intro founder. If anyone else does let me know. But I am not sure if I could carve out the time. Work / Dad / Husband / SWTOR / MWO (not necessarily in that order) has my schedule fairly full. Maybe less sleep yea that's it less sleep!

We ended up on The Shadowlands. Trelden, Valcutta and I run toon's Monday and Tuesday's from 8-10 EST. Its a real blast to level in a group. We are on our second characters this way. I have found that having leveled in a group that doing so solo is a real drag. We really play for the story lines, not much for PVP. I do believe we are going to make an attempt at every classes story line. Don't think that there is much to the game beond that. I am enjoying the game for the cinimatics and the story lines.

Ok so I am a crack head..... I dropped the $20. Very long NDA though (TL;DR). So no movies or screen shots.

I'm going to buy it tonight... the $20 Founder's package to start at least unrtil I figure out if it's a game that I want to support with more money and if I'll actually play it given all my other distractions! But given my obsession with all things BT and MWo getting me back into the TT thing again, picking this up does seem like a no-brainer.

A little slow at work so i have spent sometime testing it to day. (SHHH dont tell the boss) I think it will be an adequate substitute for the TT fans who have no RL peeps to play. So far. Have only tested one match.

I may throw 20$ at it myself. I have been kicking around the idea of getting an iPad or tablet. Sounds like it would be a great thing to play on that.

Wow, I'm shocked, we've managed to find something that CancR is not positive about! ;)

Zekez... I don't think there's a planned iOS/iPad version, but I'm not sure how such a thing would work with non-iOS tablets, maybe it's possible. There is a Mechwarrior/BT game on iOS but it's not this. I haven't played it much TBH, but it looks fun.

Can you plug it in to your TV using the SCSI cable?

It does have an HDMI cable hook-up. My son has my laptop, Im am ordering a new screen and he is going to install it ( he already had it apart to check on a plug ). I think I am going to go ahead and order it this weekend, as well as a new power supply. That way if I have a future issues I will have a back up.

Alot of people I talked to think this looks ugly. And the idea that its spouse to be a 1:1 from the table top to computer yet it functions like a collection card game where you dont just kit out your mechs but rather only have options that you pay for, make it pay to win like M:TG is.

I'm very sorry for any one who supports this. :(

Hey all,

It is really not that bad. I would call it "Very Beta" and cancr is correct it is not an 1:1, and the models so far are very unpolished. But it has the same feel so far and does in my opinion have lots of potential. Only time will tell but i dropped the $20 on the founder so if anyone else has done it hit me up we can run a match.

I htought about it, and this reminds me far more of the table top battle clicks games (which ranks up there with Mechassault in MW/BT experineces with me)

I have played 3 games, it is VERY Beta. It seems to crash alot when I submit turns. Seem to be a decent game ( once they get the bugs squashed ) to play when I can't devote my full attention to a game. The CCG aspect is interesting. Once I have played a bit more I will post a short review.
