More DLC has been confirmed!
Here's the copy and pasted article in case some of you haven't heard about this:
Gearbox Software president and CEO Randy Pitchford has confirmed that the most recent piece of downloadable content for Borderlands 2, Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep, will not be the last created for the game.
Joining the Nerdist podcast (as reported by MP1st), Pitchford revealed, "We did a season pass for Borderlands 2, and the season pass was like, 'hey, if you buy the season pass, we would be doing four campaign add-ons and you can buy all four of them for the price of three, if you buy upfront'. So everyone was under the expectations that those would be the four DLCs and that’s it.
"We are going to do more; we are going to do some other things. I don’t have details exactly of it yet, 'cause we're not ready to announce what the other things are, but when the next campaign DLC comes, Assault On Dragon Keep [won’t be] the end of it," he said. "We've got more stuff in the hopper that we’re planning and getting pretty excited about. So if you’re a Borderlands 2 fan, you don’t have to be afraid that that’s the end of it."
While no additional details were provided, Pitchford also announced that the studio is currently working on an original IP for next-generation consoles
Good to see ongoing support. I just picked up BL2 yesterday via the Steam Sale. I've been on the fence for a while, mostly haven't purchased it yet due to lack of time. But for the price, I couldn't say no.
BTW, all current DLC is also on sale during the Steam Sale, most ranging from $0.33 - $3.33. I belive the Tina DLC was more expensive at $6.66. Sale prices expire in the next few hours. Bonus for us PC users.
Yeah, Steam is nice occasionally,it's saved me some money here and there. However, it feels like they only ever have specials on old stuff aside from the "seasonal and special sales" and all the stuff I actually want never goes on sale :(
That is true. There are only a few games that I've felt the need to pick up right after they came out. I think GW2 was my last "new" game purchase. It's great for the games I'm interested in, but I'm on the fence about dropping $50-60 on. I'll wait a few months and pick it up at a discount. Yeah it may not be as "fresh", and the servers not as busy/populated (which isn't always a bad thing), but it still gives me chance to experience the game. And it gives me a chance to see if the game has some staying power, or if it's going to dissappear in 2 months as the latest fad.
That said, I'm not always purchasing stuff on Steam either, I think I've only purchased maybe a half dozen games in the 2.5 years I've had my account...and that includes the 3 games I've purchased this past week.
Speaking of which, I need to clear some room on my C drive so I can install BL2 and give it a whirl. Maybe this weekend sometime.
Hahaha, you guys need to try Gamefly.
I always forget about them. They are predominantly console though, aren't they? Besides, I don't know that I go through enough games to justify the monthly cost.
I like the gamefly sales because not only are the games cheap, they come with all theoriginal unused contents in the box so you get the online pass codes or DLC codes for the games. Unlike gamestop where you never get that stuff and even if you do, the codes have been used already most of the time.
As for borderlands 2 DLC, i applaud their continued support and them bringing the DLC back in-house to develop. But it was real tough for me to go back to borderlands after such a long absence. Hardly anyone is playing it on my FL so it was challenging to coop and I don't have a lvl 50 soloing character like Mechro or Soldier. I finished the main storyline of Tinas but I probably still have side stuff to do but it just has zero draw for me. it's safe to say i will not be purchasing any of the post season pass DLC. It's just taken to long to get the dlc stuff out and i've moved on.
It's a major score for anyone just getting the game though. By the time you're ready for dlc #5 it'll probably be available.
Yeah, I've been using Gamefly for a long time. They had a contest where you could win a Xbox 360 when they launched, and I won, but it ended up being an error, so they gave me 2 free years of Gamefly, and I've just kept using it ever since. Stil even with my 4 game subscription they can't keep up me lol. I still rent games from my local Family Video rental store, which only charges 3.50 for a game for a week, on top of that I still prolly buy 1 or 2 new games a month.
Gamefly is very nice, but you gotta know how to work the system otherwise it's very hard to get new games. I actually only use Steam to play games I can't on consoles, or want to mod, which usually is only maybe 1 or 2 games a year. I rarely play on my PC, so therefore I don't like spending more than $5 or $10 on said game.
I will probably be buying every dlc they release, just because I can never get enough BL2. I have over 800hrs logged in it so far lol. I have my co-op buddies, but I love to play solo and farm as well which I can't really do when my friends are with me.
The end of Tina gave a huge hint on where they are going with the next DLC.
