Oryx Challenge
For the Oryx challenge your fireteam must detonate 16 bombs at the same time and then kill the big guy.

Normal Mode rewards: Calcified fragment, 310 weapon or helmet, and 310 artifact
Hard Mode rewards: Normal mode rewards, plus emblem, plus 320 weapon or helmet, 320 artifact, and a ship. If you have the other 49 calcified fragments on your character, Eris will give you the Beltane shader, other goodies, plus 500 Crota's Bane rep.
Hell the group I run with hasn't even been able to get him to half health yet LOL.
Yeah, we are still in training. We should get to him this Friday though.
Honestly, the Orxy challenge might actually be easier in some ways than the normal way and running from the bombs.
Mainly just killing the ogres ASAP and keeping people alive during the Shade and only one run to detonate the blobs.
I agree, Darth! The artillery phase kills people a lot more often than I'd expected. Also, for people learning the Oryx fight, artillery is one less thing to learn. And the Oryx fight can be pretty overwhelming the first time.
Does anybody know if these challenges are one-time-only events or are they going to repeat?
I've been told (by other, generally well informed, players) that they will repeat, but I haven't seen an authoritative plan.
I'd think they have to repeat the challenges. It wouldn't be fair to people newer to raiding to miss out on the chance for 320 gear and the fragments just because they haven't leveled up sufficiently, gotten the experience they need, or formed a raid team by next week's reset. I asked because I hadn't seen or heard anything specific one way or the other from Bungie.
