After this weekend I picked up new shoulder and gloves, upgraded all my gems to the Flawless grade (triangles), bought a new weapon. I don't think there are any native damage weapons with 200 damage or better before you hit lvl 60. So best i can do is probably get to about 170 and then Gem it from there. Also decided to ditch the class exclusive 'mojo' off-hand for a shield, can get basically the same properties but also armor.
Anyway health is up in the 10,000 now, damage is 2200. Basically poop'in on everything solo at the start of Act3 NM.

This is, in my opinion, one of the more disappointing aspects about the game. My first solo play through was a barbarian so it wasn't something I noticed. However, once I started with a witch doctor and could shoot while holding other weapons. Shooting green blow darts while holding a bow, or a dagger, etc....
It just left me with a "it really shouldn't be like this" feeling. Unless there is some class specific bonus(which I haven't noticed yet) for using items intended for your class, then what is the point?
Using any weapon at any time, having skills unlock instead of being able to build your character, and having stats auto fill when you level - I've got one of each character class, is there any need for more?
I *love* this game, but can someone point out where I might be missing something here? It seems to me that D2 was better in several ways.
"better" is subjective in a lot of ways. For instance, I'm more of a "pick one class and go with it" type of person - so for me, being able to use a lot of different weapons is a good thing. I think the crave to have a game be super micro-managed is something only those who played the past games would have. I like more simplicity since I don't have the time to worry about whether I should level up one attribute or another that may or may not screw me in the future.
There are class specific attributes you want to focus on. It'll tell you if you hover over them - for instance, Dexterity is good for DH's damage.
Ya I don't see any point using mojo items when I can seemingly get the same specs plus armor ditching mojo and going shield. I have seen some mojos that have cooldown reductions or resistances that I haven't yet seen on a shield tho. So maybe there is some class specific stuff mojo gives u.
Shadow: you'll have no trouble passing me. I'm on vacation this week so will have very limited gametims but I did bring the laptop and a cell modem so I can get on lol.
I had considered switching out the class specific and going with a shield. Is it working well for you? I just can't find a good enough shield that will give the stat boosts I want.

Yes in fact i just bought a new one on the AH today. New stuff pops up on there every minute so if you don't see what you want for the price you want, look again in an hour or the next day. I'm using one with 680 armor, 150ish Intelligence, 10% reduction in time when hit with motion restricting spells, 40or so dexterity and something else, can't remember.
For anything i shop for, I have a primary stat i look for, in my case Intelligence. Then a secondary one i'd prefer, and then the rest i just see what's out there and decided if it's better for me than what I have.
Here's my end of Hell start of Inferno character. My helmet is bad ass, the tentacles on it wiggle around, it's sweet. It looks like i've turned half demon thru all my battles thru hell. Total time played to this point 96hrs.
I have found some pretty good Mojo items for WD that a shield cant compare to. Just like a source for my wizard they give damage which is much needed in inferno. Most of the ranged classes are kite to live so glass cannon with a bit of survivability is the way to go. I have the "Lidless Wall" which a legendary shield made mostly for a caster but it still cannot compare to the stats on decent source or mojo. Over 47k dps and 30k+ hp.

If you didn't sell'em i'd love to check them out. I never get anything for my character that's any good, all the really good shit i get is for other characters, drives me nuts.

Tank and I are neck and neck. I'm a lvl 46 DH. My deeps are about the same but my health is only 8K. I have a bunch of radiant gems if you need.

only 13k life huh? I would find that scenario risky for my monk even with your 5k dps.
I'm sitting at 23k health and 3.5k dps, still getting 1 hit sometimes.
I do ok. I never get 1 hit. I'm usually good about playing around the edges, and I let my templar distract and tank.

So I decided to upgrade my Demon Hunter with a little help from the AH tonight... new crossbows, gauntlet, helmet and boots
