Preparing for Rise of Iron
Preparing for Rise of Iron
Just started looking around for info on how to prepare for Rise of Iron, i.e. to get your light level up as quickly as possible after it drops. Found this article, which makes all sorts of sense: http://planetdestiny.com/prepare-wrath-machine-raid/
I've always avoided preparing for Destiny expansions, because it conflicts with my core principles and values (or maybe I just don't play enough and am lazy to boot, you choose), but I have been squirreling away exotic engrams for a little while. Must be the bad influence of OldnAchy and DEEP_NNN.
I don't intend to make a job out of a game, but it might be fun if enough of us were high enough light on Sep 23 to try the new raid. I mean the 23rd is a Friday, and everyone knows that Fridays are for raiding. What do you all think?
My vault needs a serious overhaul. I really hope we get either more vault space or more character slots for gear. I have a bunch of stuff I don't use for end game activities, but it's still fun to play with Y1 goodies when we do the old raids.
I do think it's still good to level gear, especially if you get a nice T12 roll on something you need.
I am starting to store my engrams though, so that hopefully I can get some of the new toys.
I wish I could get rid of my old stuff. The loot hoarder in me won't let that happen.
Also, with Bungie's continual tweaking of weapons and exotics, it's hard to get rid of stuff. Then we have all of the old raid weapons, that are hard to delete because of the "feels" associated with first getting the drops when the content was new and the weapons were beastly.
I also realize in Destiny 2, we'll most certainly be starting from scratch and none of this gear will carry-over, so it's all a vicious and cruel cycle.
Ive returned from a break and started playing again. Im only at 319 light on my main, and my two alts are about 310. Im guessing as long as we are above 320 should be ok for new content? I refuse to grind for gear because it becomes obsolete day 1 and you can start a new infusion binge. But Im up for pvp or raids or strikes or whatever anytime.
GT is Von Zant.
Hi Thom293! You are already on my friend list, I believe. Trying to play more PvP myself these days (except Fridays!), but am struggling with my new elite controller this week. Just got it yesterday, and I'm still pretty awful with it and feeling sorry for the poor randoms who get paired with me in crucible.
In other news, I now have 16 exotic engrams squirreled away in the vault. Here's hoping Bungie lets them decrypt to the higher light level range after RIL drops. If not, well, at least I'll have a lot of exotic shards.
Yeah I am trying to decide whether to save engrams. I want at least two exotics on each weapon slots for all 3 of my toons, and I am not quite there yet.
I did see the Soulstealers Claw recently, and I am lusting after that, so I think its time to see my old friend Variks.
Yeah you are on my FL too. Hit me up for anything anytime. I usually play after 10 central for a few hours.
I don't know how much prep for RoI I will do beyond hoarding yellow engrams, but if you are more patient than myself, and want to do some grinding, this guy seems to have thought it through carefully: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yo-eR5g95c0
I think we were doing much of this to get to level 335. The best advice I could see was at the end when he talked about edging.
Bungie played coy this week when it came to answering a question on what happens when hoarded Y2 engrams are decoded after RoI releases.
I'm more interested in the possibility of the items decrypting at higher light, so that's what I'm after - not so much the new stuff at first.
My vault has been getting some tough love as I'm storing Legendary and Exotic engrams, I'm having to make room by deleting some of my Y1 loot. I'm still keeping my VoG armor though because it's awesomesauce.
Agree, and it would be great to get the new stuff too - I just meant that if that (higher LL) doesn't happen, at minimum we can level up and collect a few shards. I've only got 2 VoG helmets and a score of Y1 weapons left, but vault space is starting to get tight.

and the list is growing...
Looks like the 2 biggest gripes from the random world are loss of IB bounties with no prior notice and the grainy screen issue.
I lost the ones I was saving for the next IB and some of my settings were reset -- for example brightness was set to the highest setting which really hurt my eyes.
I also had to go into all my characters, all sub classes, all armor, and all weapons, and "upgrade" all perks. What a pain.
Had some time on my hands yesterday, so I decided to see what the edging thing is about. Took me four crucible runs to kill my quota with that pea shooter auto rifle the gunsmith wanted testing, and all my efforts landed me on the wrong side of the new level. Gah!
I'd read somewhere that those testing missions yield 250 reputation, but I ended up with more than that. Maybe you get a little bonus reputation per kill?
Lol, that must be it!! Was scratching my head trying to figure out what sort of buff it could have been, and missed the most obvious. Thanks!
The infection based XP boost may be meant for newer players to prepare for RoI. It's not helping me in anyway right now.
I've got a couple of things edged and a fair bit of resources so I'm playing World of Tanks until release tomorrow.
Hail, comrade of the queue!
I was going to log-in and check out the new vendor stuff in the tower before leaving for work. I was 377k+ in the queue before dropping to about 207k and then getting booted from the game. I gave up at that point.
I guess Bungie's servers are a little bit busy...lol
I thought I was going to be cool this morning and log in while getting ready for work, then got that message. I thought mine was only at 23,000 at the time, but its quite possible that my half awake eyes were in disbelief and missed the extra zero. Guess all the hype overloaded their servers.
Glad I slept in...wait i sleep in everyday! But I was able to install with no issues.
Had the same queue issue at 6:05am CDT. Then got kicked out with some sort of animal error (I forgot what it was: wasn't beaver). Got in by 6:10 or 6:15 and stayed long enough to make sure ROI was functional and then left for work. Glad I didn't take the day off :-)
