Problems With New Patch?

I stuck in Skyrim this morning for the first time in a couple weeks. I downloaded the new patch 1.6. I then continued my game that I have been playing. I start in front of this little river. And a guy that I need to kill is right across it. Everytime I cross the river to get him, the game freezes up. I tried it about 4 times and the same thing happens everytime I cross the river.

My game has never had these issues until I downloaded the new update. I even uninstalled the update and reinstalled it and the same thing kept happening. There must be a simple fix. Otherwise I will be done with the game and that would be sad.
