Reviews are slow to get here. Joystiq gave it 2.5/5.0 but that was one whiny already-taught guitar player's opinion. All other user reviews I've seen have been glowing after a couple hours with the game.
FYI, here is the full tracklist known so far:

I haven’t unlocked the bonus songs yet, so I’ll be adding those as soon as I unlock them, and they will be denoted with an asterisk (*) in the setlist above. Hold tight!
I ended up grabbing the game yesterday after reading Wired's review of it.
I couldn't be more happy with this game. I'm an "ok" player but have never really taken much time to lean many scales or lead riffs on songs. This game will easily cure that problem.
Shortly after starting the game, I was rocking the living room with "Queens of the Stone Age" and actually keeping up with the game in parts. When it got to be a bit too much and I'd get flustered, it would back the difficulty down.
I like the fact that it keeps pushing you. When you master the easy parts it ramps up the difficulty, throws in more strings and notes. If you do well there, it's on to the next level of difficulty. Falter with any of those and it'll back off a little until you get in a good groove.
I haven't really done more than scratch the surface with this game but this is easily shaping up to be a game any guitar player needs to get.
I traded my PSP to someone in exchange for a Epiphone Special II just so that I could get this game. I am a borderline brand new guitar player (I dabble in it but I have zero finger speed and the only thing I can really do is read music).
That being said, I got this today and I love it. Negative review was way off. Online MP of some sort besides leaderboards would be nice, but I have zero complaints. That negative review complained mostly about the lack of eye candy. No, it's not the frilliest presentation but the technology is absolutely sound.
I guess we should adopt this as the new Rocksmith thread here. Looks like next Weeks DLC will be from 3 Doors Down. So far Loser is confirmed, but there could be some others.

OK, really love this song. I might have to pick it up.
We had it, but we can bring it back. Love your videos. If Ubi brought us some SRV I would buy it in a heartbeat.
Almost Rank 8 and I am hooked on this track. They're coming around me in April and I'm going to see them... never heard of them before I played Rocksmith (one of the reasons why I love rhythm and music games so much). It's a fun track to play too and helps me with fret navigation. The singer's a total Morrissey ripoff, but dammit if it isnt a catchy riff.
3 Doors Down is far from my favorite band, but their music is catchy and would be fun to learn. It's the kind of mellow stuff my family would enjoy to hear me play. I hope Kryptonite and When I'm Gone are also part of the DLC this week. No official word yet though.
Oh and here's my source for the first confirmation. If it turns out to be something else don't blame me lol.
I guess I called it this week lol. Anyway I'm going to buy the whole pack this time. As I mentioned my family would really enjoy hearing me play these songs.
I played each song once tonigh, got about 40K on Loser and When I'm Gone (combo versions of each) then only 20K on Kryptonite. Not bad for afirst run through, but I have a lot of work ahead of me before I can master any of these song. Not sure which one I'm going to go for first, I'll play each one again tomorrow then decide.
I finally beat the techniques challenges (got all gold). The last 2 I did were hammer-ons and bending. I really had to find just the right combo of pickup and tone for the game to register properly. How is it that I could get 80,000 on bending (gold is 90,000), try it again - and then score 55,000? It don't make no sense...
Maybe all that bending stretched the strings out some. Did you tune your guitar after playing that challenge? With a real tuner I mean, not the in game thing. Congrats on that achievement though. I barely got all bronze on those challenges so far.
I'm a tuning fanatic - most of the time I will use the full tuning application in the game before getting down to business for each song. I have noticed my intonation is horrendous and I pull strings out of tune all the time (especially sloppy with power chards). To pass the bend challenge, don't listen to the song, just bend it one whole tone and get it back to the note - that's what worked for me. I tried to be all expressive with it and was getting horrible scores.
Get yourself a guitar with a Locking Floyd Rose Tremolo & you'll never go out of tuns once you strech out a new set of strings. Although they take longer to re-string.

Floyd Rose are awesome once you are all stretched out and perfectly in tune. But the suck to string and when they get far enough out of tune that the fine tuners don't adjust far enough, then they become a pain. But if you want a tremelo, they can't be beat. I have gone back to having a stationary bridge with no whammy or tremelo at all. Limits some of what I can do, but it also makes alternate tuning possible. Switching tunings with a FR is a pain in the ass.
Hey folks. I'm not playing rocksmith, but I have played guitar for over 20 years now. I'm happy to offer advice to anyone who might need some around here. Just pm me if there's anything I can try & hep out with.
The best Floyd Setup imo is like what's on my wolfgang. The trem is mounted flush with the body. tuning stability is much better beacuse it only goes down. As opposed to one that monted to float & bent up or down. They can be a real bitch setting up whenevver you want to change tuning etc. With the flush mount it's a lot easier. If you've got a floating setup that goes up or down, then I highly suggest a trem-setter. This is a little device that is mounted in the rear cavity in place of one of the springs. It'll keep the rem at it's "zero" point.
For anyone not familiar with a Floyd Rose Trem, here's a pic...
Hre's the trem-setter device...
\Most importantly is the locking nut to keep it locked in at the head...
I would enjoy geting a guitar with a tremelo - but I have had bad experiences with them in the past (tuning). That probably has to do with the amount I'm willing to spend. What can I get that's relaible for around $500? That price includes the guitar
Otside of a flyd, I'd say the best trem on the market is Ibanez's edge or Zero point Trem system. Theay can be found on most of their RG series or S series guitars. I'f you;d like, I can post links to a few examples on guitarcenter.com

The RG series is nice but the Wizard necks are a bit too thin for my taste... probably why so many shredders love them. I had an SZ series (poor mans PRS) and that guitar was amazing for the price. No trem but sounded phenomenal with the Duncan pickups.
Changing out your tuning machines to some Grover or Schaller locking machines will help too. Not as much as a Floyd, but more than adequate. Unless you're dive bombing and know how to use a Floyd the normal past time guitarist has no need for one. 55-60 bucks and about 20 minutes of work and the tuner swap will be just fine.

Another "real" guitar game?

Man, that interface is just horrible. Lot of screen real estate used for garbage backgrounds. And that Joystiq reviewer can suck it.
The more options the better. I'll definitely give that new game it's fair shot when it comes out.
