I would like to try this. I haven't done much in the boss room yet, but I am aware of a lot of the mechanics of it.

Count me in.  9 should work.

Does this mean the realtors are finally out of your hair, Achy?

Not yet, but I insisted on no showings after 8PM.

I managed to snatch this rough Spire guide from my clan forums. There are a lot of steps!

***Spire of Stars boss fight:

3 teams of 2 are determined – Left team(Square), Mid team(Circle), and Right team(Triangle)

Everyone kills adds in their area

Val Ca’uor squats and a glowing ball flies to one side

The side that gets the ball has to pick it up quickly and pass it to everyone until all have been cleansed

The last person throws the ball at Val

Gladiators drop on 4 plates on each side and teams need to kill them ASAP

2 people will be given Superior Retainer, you need to know who to plan coverage for in later steps

4 people need to stand on the 4 back plates to open the space lift

One Retainer goes up and calls out symbols (Square=left, Circle=middle, Triangle=right)

2 balls shoot out and 2 people pick them up, then grab Greed on the top above the doors and go to a called symbol plate in front of door

The 3rd door plate is filled by anyone who can get there

Throw balls at the glowing door charge and missiles armed

The 4 people without Superior Retainer go back to the back plates and stand on them to activate the space lift

This enables the 2 Superior Retainers to pick up balls, get Greed, and lift up to space to destroy 2 called out ships by throwing balls at them

Everyone backs up to the back and ball juggle phase commences

This time there are 3 balls with one coming at a time

Person on the first side grabs first ball, gets Greed and counts to 9, then passes ball to partner on their side (one Mid person shifts to help)

2nd ball comes (could be either side)

One person from the other side team grabs 2nd ball, gets Greeds and counts to 9, then passes ball to their partner

Final ball comes, then remaining Mid person grabs ball and gets Greed

Calus robot rises above Val and purple hand goes up, then everyone with a ball hits Calus

DPS phase 1 commences

Stay inside back rooms or you will get killed by missiles

Rinse and repeat

Final phase – Val spits out several balls

You have to hit Val with a ball to take his shield down and then super, heavy, etc. to finish up

Nice write-up and easy enough to follow, but gives you an idea of the complexity of the fight. This is assuming we even make it to this stage. We still have to complete the first encounter, jump puzzle and part 1 of boss fight (which is similar to part 2).

I thought the jump puzzle was really fun the first time I tried it. If I can just do that and get more familiar with how things work in the boss room I'll be happy!

We nearly have enough for two fireteams.  If we can get a few more bodies, we could run:

1. Darth Tabsco 2. BCyclops 3. Krak 4. OldnAchy 5. Soulterror 6. +1?

1. Hammerdrake 2. Sh33bs 3. Harriz 4. AJay 5. Orleans Joker 6. +1

I might be running with a different group that has a guy that has never done ANY of the Destiny raids. We might try Eater of Worlds with him tonight if enough of the other group is around.

If not, I'll be up for trying Spire.

Alts: 1. Ajay 2. Darth Tabasco

Raid Post-Mortem

We made it all the way to the boss room and destroyed a few ships there, and gained quite a bit of experience. I think we all learned a lot and it was a pretty fun time. At the end we had some difficulty arming the missiles since it didn't seem to work everytime. I just wonder if everyone was calling out the correct symbol after going up into space. The problem is that the square and triangle symbols look almost the same, so it's easy to mix them up.

Loadout

Arcstrider (Hunter) with Raiden Flux, Crimson exotic hand cannon, solar Manannan, solar Curtain Call

I feel like Arcstrider was definitely the best choice for a Hunter. Disorienting Blow melee was very good and Arcbolt grenades were amazing. I would often kill 3 or 4 enemies with just one Arcbolt. In fact they were so good that I may want to choose Lucky Raspberry next time for my exotic armor instead of Raiden Flux, at least in the first encounter. Arcstaff was good for clearing adds, but I don't think it needs to last very long. I switched to Stomp-EE5 for the jump puzzle and that seemed helpful. I started with Positive Outlook and switched to Manannan later, and I thought the Manannan worked better so I would make that change. Also, I would have preferred Sins of the Past instead of Curtain Call for the automatic reloading. I just didn't have one on my Hunter at the time. I later realized that I also could have used my Hunter dodge to reload my Crimson and rockets quicker, if needed, since those can take a while to reload.

Had a great time on the raid! Used Crimson for most of the trip, and definitely missed the hunter fast reload.
