I'm going to buy a new tv in the next couple of weeks and I'm strongly considering going 3D. I know that I'll want a passive set since I've tried both and can't stand active.
My question is, who among you has already drunk the 3D Kool-Aid? Was it worth it? How often do you really use it? Also, which one do you have?
I bought an LG 47LW5600 passive 3D last November. It's a great TV and looks amazing, but if you didn't like active 3D I don't think you'll like the passive much better. I tried the 3D out for a week or two then put the glasses away. I haven't watched anything in 3D since December.
I don't think I'd recommend paying anything extra for 3D unless you love it and just can't get enough of it in the theater.
The kids love the 3d, but its ok for me. If you have kids then pay the extra for 3d, otherwise I wouldn't
Whoa. That's way too big for my humble tv room. I may go as big as 47" but 42" is a good sweet spot for the size of the room. I wish I could get a top end 3D tv without the added cost of all the web apps. I don't use them and hate to spend money on tech I won't use.
I have a 65" Magnavox 3D DLP TV, and really like it. The channels on DirecTV are ok, but the games on PS3 (esp. Uncharted 3) are pretty cool. I need to check out movies yet - just bought Captain America and Thor in 3D on sale a couple of weeks ago. I haven't tried any Xbox games in 3D yet.

Yeah, the Samsung webapps, etc... are shit but it is cool streaming Netflix right from the tv versus through xbox, etc...
