Thinking about upgrading. If you were buying a new phone right now, what would it be? I am on Verizon. Battery life important. Extended battery even better.
I took a risk and bought a windows phone 7, the Nokia one and i've been pretty happy with it. Except WP8 is about to come out and the 7 phones can't run 8 so if you wanted to take the plunge, you should wait for WP8 phones.
I"ve also been very happy with Jelly Bean on my Nexus 7, i wouldn't mind a phone based on it. Android is a really solid , polished operating system now. So if you going to decide on an android phone, look for ones that have Jelly.
And i guess it depends who's ecosystem you're already plugged into. Apple, Microsft and Google all have their back end cloud services and app stores. I'm a microsoft guy so i'm fully invested in their Skydrive, hotmail, 'live' services. It all runs seemlessly on my WP7 phone but was a bit of a challenge to tie into all that with my Nexus7 tablet. Where as if I had been fully plugged into the google echosystem, the Nexus7 would have been a piece of cake. So really i think that should be part of anyones decision to decide on what phone and what phone OS they're going to buy.

ave a focus s running wp7 and once the mango update came out it was awesome, but IT SUCKS BALLS AS A SOCIAL TOOL. Microsoft takes forever to get things out. like angry birds. still no draw something or words with friends. if its a hot social app microsoft wont have it. i also think there is no cross platforming what so ever. so if you want to play games with other folks with no wp7 too bad.
Best is pretty subjective, and a battery life in smart phones isn't great. What are you upgrading from? Moto droid maxx has better battery life, but i'm not a fan of motoblur really.
I've got a galaxy nexus and like it, galaxy s3 is also pretty nice. New iphone will be coming out in a bit as well, but you might be pretty happy with the current models if you're into apple. I know a few people who are a generation behind on iphones and buy when people dump theirs to get the latest/greatest.

I think Motoblur is a thing of the past on the newer Motorola phones. And even though Motoblur can be irritating at times, the different GUIs for the docking systems more than make up for it IMHO. Why everyone hasn't copied this idea from Motorola amazes me -- it completely enhances the functionality of the phone in the car, etc.
I have a Droid Incredible 2 with an extended battery. I have never run it down in a days time and I use it a lot. It is great but there is always that new shiny penny. Wife has iPhone. When browsing the internetand you zoom in to read, it does not realign things so I have to scan back and forth with my finger. That is the one thing I don't like about Apple but it is a deal breaker.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 is supposed to be the shit right now and Verizon offers it. That's most likely the phone I'd get right now. I'm about 6 months out until I can get a new one, and I'll be switching over to Sprint when I do. I'll see what the flavor of the month is then.

I'm actually thinking of ditching the iphone for it...

+1 on the S3.
Got mine a week ago now and the proccesing power on it is insane.
If you do get an S3 don't get the white one as the cover feals a bit to plasticy if you get my drift.

See, with Sprint going to an LTE network, I'm holding back. The EVO LTE is out now for Sprint, but I'm sure Samsung or HTC or whomever is going to have the next super phone that runs on that kind of network.
The big thing with the iPhone is availibilty of accessories. Of course that all changes with the iPhone 5 and the new dock.
The big thing for me is the iCloud service. Got a mac at home and at work. Syncing contacts, emails, and photos on all three devices is just a must for me. Just better service.
It's not really microsoft getting these apps out, it's developers porting their apps to wp7, and apples app store, and android are the first 2 priorities there.

Very true. Developers go where teh demand is, and if they don't think they can make as much money porting to W7 then they are less likely to be quick about it.

i would think that too except getting updates out for xbox takes so long. it has to go through them to get approval. unless its a hotfix. it cant be that hard to port things over if they are already on two platforms.
Tank has a good point. If you are already a Google user, then going a droid phone will be a seemless route for you. The S3 is giant boobies wrapped in bacon. I believe Moto, is coming out with a new Razr phone that is suppoes to be really good as well.
If you are in the Apple camp, well then wait for the 5 to come out and their you go.

In less than 3 months your Sig prediction expires.

Well technically a new xbox will launch with H4, it is the H4 edition xbox..So if a cheapo slide in by the seat of my pants type of way...I sort of qualify? LOL

FUCK! I just bought an HTC something or other with the 3d camera. i'd take boobies and bacon over 3d any day!
I was going to buy the galaxy S3 but when I saw the HTC one X dropped it's price by 100 I jumped on that one. I ditched the iPhone because I like the variety of phones that you can get with a droid. I like the iOS but you are stuck with the one phone. The droid system you have manufactures constantly trying to out do one another so you get some bad ass phones IMO.
I have the Razr MAXX and the battery life is awesome and no clunky battery add on. The phone is pretty small and light for something with such battery life. I didn't buy a case or screen protecter with this one since it has the gorilla glass and kevlar backing. Now that it finally has ice cream sandwich all is good in the world. can't wait for jelly bean, but that is one of the problems being on verizon, they take hellalong to get an update out. There is an app that comes pre-installed called smart actions and it is awesome. I tend to forget to charge my phone and night and the long battery life plus the smart actions basically shutting the phone down from 1am-7am has saved me. Still made it through the next day without a charge.
That Razr MAXX HD is rumored for October this year if you can wait that long, but you know how rumors go. I agree with everyone else that the S3 is a damn good looking phone.
I'm in the same boat. I still have my original DROID from 2010. I run a PC with Win7, all my media is in iTunes, and I use and iPad alot. My wife just upgraded to an iPhone 4s and is on her 3rd one in 2 months - 2 defective units. I'm trying to decide between the S3, wait for the iPhone5 or new W8 phone and look at a Surface tablet instead of an iPad to go with it. Decisions, decisions, decisions...
