droid 4 help
So i just switched to verizon from tmobile picked up a droid 4 and im having problems with the wi-fi staying connected. It will connect for maybe 10 seconds then loose it, then reconnect and loose it again.
My old g2 would stay connected without a single hiccup. Router hasnt changed and ive been screwing with it for 2 days and its pissing me off. Im using a dlink 4500 router.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
I might check and see if you don't have a battery saver setting/app that's closing it down. I might also see about giving it a static IP address to make sure it's not a network conflict.
how's the signal strength on the phone when it does connect?
power down the router for a minute and the phone, turn the router back on and then the phone.
if you have a decent signal, i would consider contacting where you bought the phone or the manufacturer for some trouble shooting. something is not right. i had the same problem at work, but it was happening with the laptops too. replaced the router and everything works fine now.
I didn't have any problem with an older version of smartphone at my place, but my Droid 4 has some major issues with my Wifi at the house. I don't know if it's the laptop or my wireless headphones (as goofy as it is, my Turtlebeaches block the wireless signal to my laptop), but the wifi is constantly up and down. I finally switched my plan to unlimited data and turned the wifi off. Not a solution, but a bandaid, but just to tell you that you aren't alone in the wifi craziness on that phone.
Flapjax raised a possible solution that he can try as well.
Wouldn't hurt to go into your router and change the channel selection from "auto" to a static channel. You night have to do this a couple of times to make sure you get one that's free and clear, but if it's interference from something else in the house that might fix it.
you can set it to whatever you want, but start with channels one, six, and eleven. these are the ones to be used in the US. you can use other channels, but not ch.14. it's use is prohibited in the US by non-gov't agencies and the general public.
Thanks for all the feedback peeps.
After staying up till 2 in the morning Monday playing with all my router settings I did a hard reset on my router and, I kid you not, as I was wating for my router to reboot so I could set up the wi fi security again I get a notification on my phone that there is a system udate available. I don't know if it was the hard reset or the phone update that fixed it but it works fine now.
Flapjaxx, the update version my phone is running now is 6.13.219
Sounds like you have had your phone longer so I would think you already have that update but wouldn't hurt to check in to it.
Again, thanks for all the help guys. My wife is still having troubles with hers so I am going to try these ideas with her Samsung Galaxy
