Understand the hatred as it a pretty large departure from V3. Few things to help navigate.
Private MSG: Click the cog icon at the top of the page (on desktop) and a flyout menu will show you how many PMs you have as well as a link to your PMs
You dont have to log in with Facebook to do anything besides comment on public articles. This was done so anyone could comment on our public news side even if they're not a part of the site. The people who write articles work really hard at it and we felt like they deserved the ability to have attention from outside the site. Blogs, forums, etc still require 2o2p membership only to comment.
Sorry for the big shift as I know it pretty jarring. The hate will probably pass though as we had rivers of hate when we switched to V2 and even more floods of hate for V3 (so much so that people left in mass).
Bottom line, the site was out of date and hand not had a refresh in almost 6 years. It desperately needed a mobile presence and a code clean-up to increase performance. The backend tools, feature set, and overall tech got massive upgrades. In those ways the site was broken, and so I decided to fix it. Hopefully it grows on you over time. The home page will get a reboot at some point as well since its really just a placeholder. Just need more time.
I think the first thing I see, first impression as it were, is that the site looks brighter and more open. Granted things aren't where they used to be but it'll become more familiar as we go.
Old School=Sycophant (Ass Kisser-Bootlicker)!!!....I agree with Doodi that this is the early beginning...First Impression of the Home Page is a severe downgrade...Will Have Patience Though (I Have Faith)....A Blank Screen is Brighter and More Open for Christ's Sake. I think for your comments Old School maybe Doodi will give you a additional 1000 posts credit (To Enhance Your Brand)!!!!!
