I am not trading in any games this gen!
Last gen I traded in a ton of games and there were a few times when my friends wanted to play a retro game and I couldn't play because I traded the game in already. This gen I am keeping all games, even if they suck. I should have a nice collection of games when the PS5 rolls around! What about you are you keeping your games to the end of the life cycle or trading them in?
Greg
Picked up Dead Rising for the xbone and traded it right away for AC. No change in my gaming style.
I've already traded this gen... took that worthless BF4 into Gamestop when they were offering 40 bucks for it. :)
I probably should do the same thing. It is just gathering dust.
I seldom ever trade in a game, but I also am pretty selective on the games that I do purchase.
I don't buy games anymore.
Thats why I joined GameFly. Now I play anything and buy only a select few. I did the math for last year's trade loss... it's kick myself in the nuts stupid. I'll take the 191.40 a year.
can't trade in digital games, and I'm buying most if not all that way. So much more convenient. I'm not destitute, so I can afford not to get the few bucks from selling them.
I may or may not sell games, but if I do it's to make room in my drawer. I'm pretty minimalist. I don't sell them for the money you get since you get jack sh*t from selling them anyway. It's more to just make physical room. With digital I won't ever have that problem, so it should be fine. :)
I rent most of the stuff that I play and generally only buy the keepers like Forza, big Bethesda RPGs, Bioshock, and fighting games.
I will trade in what I stop playing. I rarely have people come over to "game" so not having a specific game does not affect me. If the dudes I play with start playing an old game, I wait to see if it lasts more then 2 weeks, then bite the bullet if I need to.
One thing to keep in mind, since for the past 2 "new generation" consoles have for the most part prevented you from playing the previous generations games on the new gen stuff. You will also need to keep around the old console to play.
Just something to think about.
Like others have stated, I tend to only buy games I plan on playing for a while and want to hang on to. Trading in is a rarity. I try to ebay or craigslist the game before settling with trading it in to Gamestop because I can usually earn an extra $10-20. Gamefly was great but I no longer cheevo whore, so I got rid of it. (Not enough time anymore). I highly recommend it to anyone that plays multiple games (and possibly multiple systems) with a high turnover rate on their games.
I try not to trade in games but sometimes when you need the money, you need the money. I'm going to try to hold onto my Xbone games.
I'll be tradin ac4 here pretty soon, extra $10 credit on ONE/PS4 trades right now. Not sure what to pre-order though, I've got Titanfall and Destiny pre ordered. I guess i'll pre-order Watchdogs, it's the only other game with an official release date so far and comes out between Titanfall and Destiny.
Watch Dogs doesn't have an official release date yet.
Thief comes out 2/25, I'm excited for that one.
No Mad Max fans, eh?
Not selling my games anymore. There so many I want to go back and play. Sometimes I've purchased them again used later on, but this time around no selling.
I tend to buy games used from GameStop or such anyway. So I may be a bit late to the online matches, but the initial investment is low. Just picked up Lolipop Chainsaw this month. Hey, 5 bucks is about the investment for a couple hours or so playing that one. Still, don't trade in my old games. There come times when I just want to pull the old PS1/2 or XBox out of the closet and get a bit of old gaming on. Just this month I found myself going back to Jetset Radio Future and Xenosaga.
Games will also be a bit harder to trade in this time around as there are sometimes DLC that would add to a waste since that can't be traded in.
Maybe I should play Parasite Eve again. Its been a while.
Ya watchdogs is officially 'spring' 2014. I notice most resellers have it listed for end of June at the moment which I think is a great time to launch, all summer to play :)
