Lost 70 pounds gaming on a treadmill...
Image uploaded to reddit.com(/r/gaming) today about a guy(?) who lost 70 pounds with this set up:
I've considered doing something similar to this, except I think it would be easier with a bike. The primary reason I'm posting this here though is I found this comment:
I had to register to comment on this. I lost 25 lbs about 9 years ago with the exact same setup (32" old Dell LCD still kicking). I still use the same treadmill every day for a minimum of seventy minutes a day. If XBL is down I don't even bother. The biggest problem is you can't use a mic because it's too noisy. Also if you use a wired controller in the winter you can get shocked by static electricity. I only play Call of Duty online, nothing else. I use a program that moves from 4-5 MPH every 10 minutes.I fall off every month or so, but never on my face or anything. At 53 years old I am 5'10" 157. K-D is 1.75. I have not downloaded the latest map pack. I sweat through a shirt MUCH faster while playing than when not, so I know it makes the workout harder. People always think I'm lying when I say I stay in shape playing video games. It has to be good for your health, plus the thinking and hand-eye coordination probably help stave off Alzheimer's. Plus as I tell my wife, it fun dammit! When are you too old to like to have fun? Phew, glad to have a place where I can share this info with nonjudgmental people on the interwebs (yeah that's a joke).

I use one of these, i can sit in my chair and casually peddal while I game. Good way to burn some calories while i would otherwise be sitting idle.
Nice - with that you can still sit at your desk! or just sit in front of your TV like you normall do! I'll check it out!
Ya exactly... well it's abit hard to use one under a desk because your legs come up andmay hit the underside so you'd have to sit back a bit for desk use. But it works great on the couch or in a chair.
I'm not saying buy the exact same one I did although it is an excellent choice, but don't ge tthe crappy $50 mini stationary bikes. YOu want a good quality one that's smooth and quiet like this one that uses magnets.

I find gaming on a treadmill quite dangerous. So easy to fall. I am amazed at how far I start leaning while playing. I also lose track of where I am on the tread and go right off the back. Maybe it works better with a safety harness?
A new fitness center came to town within the last year that everyone is talking about. I don't remember specifically what they advertised but it implied an interactive bike simulator; not enough to make you think if you turned it turned but the ad implied that it would at least immerse you into the moment to make you feel you were really riding in Italy, Japan, etc. In actually it was I'd say a 10x15 room with about 8 stationary bikes in it and a 42" HD TV with a blu ray player, and they would just play DVD's (yes I said DVD's) on that of riding around those areas. If that wasn't bad enough only about 1/3 of the video was from the bike riders POV, the rest of the video would be still footage of things going on around the area, like 5 minutes of a woman gardening or a spring near a bridge, taking away what little about of immersion you may have gotten from it. I don't think I have to tell y'all I didn't join...
On a brighter note, check this out. I haven't decided if I think this would be entertaining or just annoying yet:

I know if I watch a football game while on a treadmill it and I go faster longer...I think the aim is simply to take your mind off what you're doing...
I like this set up
Here's another one posted today with a bike:

I like this idea, but I have tried watching a movie on my iPad while on the treadmill and the natural up-down motion from walking starts to make me dizzy. I wonder if you get more used to it.
