Need some help from Americans
I need some help to hopefully settle an argument I'm having with a friend of mine.
Basically I'm looking for some of you guys from America to post the names of about 5 soccer players you have heard of. I'm hoping this highly scientific method will help us assertain which one is the most well known around the world.
Please dont read the post above yours and just put down the first names that come into your head!
That English guy that's married to the SPice girl that looks like she's always got a stick shoved up her ass...(the bony looking one).
Whats soccer?
This is probably your most common answer.
I'm guessing the question was " How many Americans does it take to name 5 soccer players?"...Three and counting...
Oh wait, can I count my twin boys? They're 17 and play soccer...that makes 5 right?
MISSION : ACCOMPLISHED!!!
I don't watch any soccer but I have heard a few names.... on Sportscenter of course.gif)
Messi, Ronaldo, Rooney, Donovan, Dempsey, Howard. Wambach, Boxx, and that hot chick Alex Morgan
That's all I know.......and some guy named, "Goal"....it is often pronounced, "GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLL". He seems to be popular and as I remember the spanish anouncers getting real excited when they mentioned him.
Landon Donovan, Ronaldo, Ronaldhino (sp?), David Beckham, Maridonna (sp?, "hand of god" dude), Pele'.
I can probably name a bunch more American players other than Donovan, but I figure that is not what you are going for. Pretty sad list I think....
Thanks a lot guys keep em coming. Dont worry if I was asked to name one baseball or american footballer I would be able either.
Messi, Ronaldo, Rooney, Beckam, Donovan... current
Pele, Beckenbauer, Shep Messing, Gorgio Chanalia(sp), Maradonna... all time
Only it seems like a lot of people actually do know the names. Interesting.
P.S. I hate soccer about as much as I hate basketball.
I do recognize Beckam's name but I couldn't come up with it on my own. It would be the only one.
That's not a very scientific answer from me though since I can't remember very many sports names anyway.
this^^^
i didn't think i knew any, but as soon as i saw Beckam i recognized it. the only other one is Pele, but i guess that just shows my age and when i was last interested in soccer.
I thought the Beckhams were underwear models.
Xavi Hernandez
Andres Iniesta
Cesc Fabregas
Johan Cruyff
Hristo Stoichkov
Do I spot a certain Catalonian trend? Plus I didnt think you were American
Messi, Torres, Rooney, Ferdinand, Lampard, Cech, Iniesta, girlyman Ronaldo, Keane - both of them (for you C), van Persie, that huge Swede Ibrahimovich (spelling), David Villa, Ivory Coast guy that looks like a horse...
Not to mention US players like Lando, Tim Howard, Bradley, Bocanegra (sp), Onyewu, Altidore.....and that's all I got.
Oh, Alex Morgan. I'd grab a pic but I agreed not to look names up.
Taxi ≠ American
And that chick that took her top off and got in the ad with Kevin Garnett.
Who cares about those guys. This is the greatest soccer player ever.
Sylvester Stallone plays soccer?
And isn't that Rugby, not Soccer?!?
It's soccer, Stallone is a Goalkeeper. If I remember correctly, it's not a bad movie. It's set in WW2. The Nazi's set up a soccer match with POW's as a propaganda event. Of course the POW's plan to escape during the match. It has Michael Caine an Pele in it.
Yeah...I think I can see Werner Klemperer in the background...he was one of the guards (had it in for Stallone's friend, played by Jimmy Walker)
They use goal posts in rugby, I see what looks like a soccer net in that pic. Plus he's wearing shin pads
Goal posts in rugby? since when did they score goals in rugby?...and it's FOOTBALL.gif)
Pele, Beckham, Maradonna, Ronaldo, Hamm, Solo
Ronoldo
Pele
Hope Solo
Meisi (sp fail)
Beckham (sp fail)
Julie Foudy
Pele
That guy who married the Spice Girl
Graham Chapman...oh wait, that was rugby.
Does table soccer count? Never mind...I don't know anyone who plays that either.
I hope this helped!
